I have an outstanding God; I have a superb Lord; I have an all sufficient King who supplies my every need according to His riches and glory. He is the force that drives me; the power that moves me; the inspiration that motivates me; the strength that upholds me. His name is Jesus Christ; He is God manifested in the flesh. My name is Jim Griffith, and I am an apostolic Christian; born again; sanctified; water baptized; and Holy Ghost filled. Time would not suffice for me to describe my feelings of every Church, but I must say that I love this type: an Apostolic, United, Overcoming, Pentecostal, Holy Church. Currently I am employed by the U.S. military; the service I will not specify, but I will discuss the spiritual government of which I am enrolled. I am enrolled in the Army of the LORD; the Christian-hood of God. As we press forward into the pages of this book, I pray that your heart will be impressed by the Holy Spirit of God; that your soul will be uplifted into the heavens; that your spirit will be ushered into the living presence of God. Jesus Christ is our only hope, only life, and only salvation; may we understand His character, quality, and identity in order to become partakers of His Eternal Spirit & Eternal life. This book is formulated alphabetically in order to institute a new spiritual alphabet founded on diverse titles of Jesus Christ. There is so much we have not discovered about the Lord Jesus Christ, and it is my attempt to present Him to you in a new light and new way. Let's go forth & overcome! Let God Arise! Mount Rainier began its history as an incorporated town in 1910, with the merging of several subdivisions that straddled Bunker Hill Road, a major route between the ports of Georgetown and Bladensburg. Before the Civil War, Thomas and Anna Clemson owned a 100-acre farm that fronted on that important road. Their family letters provide some of the earliest writings about the area. In 1891, Elizabeth and Estcourt Sawyer purchased the Clemson farm and named their subdivision Mount Rainier. In 1899, the real estate became especially attractive to commuters when the District of Columbia's streetcar system was extended through the heart of the present-day city; that route, now known as Rhode Island Avenue, later became part of US Route 1.

Using Sheng Yen’s doctrinal classification (Chn. panjiao) chart as an example, the book shows Sheng Yen’s Chan as a synthesis of both Indian and Chinese premodern forms of Buddhism, and as the summum bonum of Han transmission of Chinese Buddhism (Chn. Hanchuan fojiao). The book demonstrates how Sheng Yen’s presentation of Chan was intimately related to the volatile social and political realities of his life—the Communist takeover of China and the subsequent industrial boom that impacted Taiwanese society. In short, this book presents a historically and culturally embodied approach to the formation of Buddhist doctrine and practice. Drawing on the works of postcolonial theories that integrate the role of the researcher into the research, the book also offers a more integrated approach between emic and etic, insider and outsider perspectives to research. This is the first scholarly history of the only regular army cavalry regiment raised during the Civil War. Unlike volunteer regiments raised by individual states, the regular regiments drew soldiers from across the country. By war's end 2,130 men and at least one woman from 29 states and 14 countries served in the 6th U.S. Cavalry. The regiment's initial cast of officers included two grandsons of a former president, a cousin of Confederate President Jefferson Davis, two cousins of the governor of Pennsylvania, the son of a Radical Republican senator who opposed President Lincoln, and a number of enlisted soldiers promoted from the ranks. The book relies heavily upon primary sources to tell the regiment's story in the words of the participants. These include diaries and letters of officers and enlisted soldiers alike, several of which are previously unpublished.
