Next day, Wallace saw a photograph of the dead man in the papers, along with a report that he had drowned in County Waterford, two hundred miles from where Wallace found him. The day after, Special Branch men tried to kill Wallace. It's obvious that Wallace has stumbled into some heavy stuff, particularly when the official line turns out to be that Wallace has gone rogue, and thrown his lot in with the villains he was supposed to be infiltrating. McCadden knows that the smart thing to do is stay out of it and keep his nose clean for a few weeks until he's landed the big job, especially when he realises that the Minister for Justice, his soon-to-be boss, is showing signs of misusing his privileged position. Crazy Man Michael is the fourth in Jim Lusby's complex, subtle and compulsive McCadden mysteries.

Redd also tells what the canal did for the region, how it bolstered Chicago from a town of twelve hundred at the time of the 1836 groundbreaking ceremony to a city of seventy-four thousand after six years of operation in 1854. During the peak traffic—from the 1860s through the 1880s—more than five million tons of freight passed through the canal, generating a million dollars in tolls and opening a trade route from the East Coast to the Gulf of Mexico.

Jim Heaney was born an Irish-Catholic alcoholic. He remains one today. However, he has been sober for the past 21 years. No one has yet found a cure for the Irish-Catholicism. This story begins in a tiny house in Jacksonville, Florida, and ends in a slightly larger one in Columbia, South Carolina. Residences in central Florida, Indiana, Liberia, Georgia, Pennsylvania, England, Zaire (now Congo), and Kansas follow in that order. Much of Dr. Heaney's life involved battles. His most difficult ones were within himself. He struggled with low self-esteem, academics, addiction, religion, and infidelity. Several of these skirmishes are ongoing. In his youth, he learned to his distain that "dilettante" referred to someone who dabbled in the arts and academics. Someone who knew a little about a lot. During his twilight years, Jim came to realize that he was that dilettante for whom he'd had low regard. Yet age had allowed him to accept that dabbler and, hence, himself. The older he became, the more he realized the less he knew.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jim Davidson is a Christian businessman and a native of Gould in Southeast Arkansas. His career as a public speaker, author, and motivational consultant has spanned more than forty-five years. Some of his many awards and achievements include: Arkansas Salesman of the Year, Chairman of the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce's Diamond Club sales organization, Justice of the Peace in Pulaski County, Chairman of Speakers Bureau of the Pulaski County United Way, Leadership Gavel recipient as voted by members of his Dale Carnegie Class, and honorary member of the DECA & GCE Clubs of Arkansas. He has also been presented with the "Good Neighbor Award" by the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce and is the 2010 "Distinguished Service Award" winner for Conway Public Schools. In November 2013, Jim was given a Senate Citation and the Conway Community Service Award by Senator Jason Rapert during a ceremony at the Faulkner County Library. In 1980, Jim began writing and producing a daily radio program titled "How to Plan Your Life." It has been broadcast by over 300 radio stations coast to coast and heard by thousands of people each weekday. Later, in 1995, he also began writing a weekly newspaper column for his hometown newspaper, the Log Cabin Democrat, in Conway, Arkansas. With over 375 newspapers in thirty-five states running his column since its inception, it is believed to be the most successful self-syndicated column in the history of American journalism. Jim was a staunch member of the Conway Noon Lions Club for over 20 years, holding every leadership position and winning all their awards, including twice being named a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest award in Lionism.
