Haven't you ever wanted to read someone's diary? How about a collection of journals, spanning across a decade or more? These are the journals of Jessica Gray Schipp, born December of 1984 in Arlington, VA. Written between 1993 and 2007, these entries are transcribed exactly and include commentary by the author.
Picture this: it's June in DC. You walk into an 11-floor corporate building. Every square inch of the building is plastered in art, in a community of artists. You continue past the lobby desk and go through a set of large glass doors. The walls are plastered like a grocery advertisement board. Random flyers pinned all over. You make a right and walk down a narrow hallway with blue carpet. Then you hear it. Neil Young's Harvest Moon. It is coming from the room on your right. As you round the corner into room #137 you are struck by the presence of Christmas. You stand in the middle of the room and try to figure out what this is. You realize you are standing in a life-size dollhouse. You are looking at the tree and you see the dollhouse underneath it. You are looking into the room you are standing in, into the room within the room that you are standing in. and everything is connected. Schipp exhibited "The Little House" installation and a gallery show of 7 oil paintings at Artomatic. This is the result.
