In 1903, nearing age 40, Charles Crouch became a Methodist Minister. It had been a long journey since his conversion from Mormonism eight years earlier. With an eight-grade education, he had studied to gain enrollment in the Montana Wesleyan University at Helena, Montana. Graduating from that University in 1901, he then completed the additional qualifications to become an Elder and full minister in the Methodist Church. From here he would go on to pastorships of six congregations. His Great Falls Montana pastoral service from 1904 to 1908 was typical. A prior minister had built a church that was only half full and in debt. Reverend Crouch filled the church with members and paid off the debt. As superintendent of the Yellowstone District from 1908 to 1912, the Reverend established congregations in many cities and built church buildings. This was the period of greatest growth for his area of Montana. He was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree for his great accomplishments. Reverend Crouch was recognized as an exceptional fund raiser. This ability was utilized by his many congregations on various fund drives. His greatest success in fund raising and building, however, was with new Deaconess Hospitals- first in Great Falls, then in Bozeman and lastly in Billings, Montana. Crouch's final assignment as a full time Methodist Minister was in 1922. He was sent to Billings to raise money, build a Deaconess hospital, staff the hospital and be the business manager until his retirement in 1931.

Fallen Angel details one man's improbable rise to power in one of the world's most violent organizations, while shedding light on how this enigmatic and dangerous biker gang operated and why it remains so powerful.

He is innocent but instead of turning himself in and attempting to prove his innocence he decides to go on the run. When he does the police become convinced that he's guilty of the slaying. He goes into hiding, changes his appearance, and assumes a new identity. But that doesn't work and he soon finds himself in even more trouble with seemingly no way to avoid the threat of capture and being tried for the murder he didn't commit.

After the Civil War, Congress required ten former Confederate states to rewrite their constitutions before they could be readmitted to the Union. An electorate composed of newly enfranchised former slaves, native southern whites (minus significant numbers of disenfranchised former Confederate officials), and a small contingent of "carpetbaggers," or outside whites, sent delegates to ten constitutional conventions. Derogatorily labeled "black and tan" by their detractors, these assemblies wrote constitutions and submitted them to Congress and to the voters in their respective states for approval. Blacks, Carpetbaggers, and Scalawags offers a quantitative study of these decisive but little-understood assemblies -- the first elected bodies in the United States to include a significant number of blacks. Richard L. Hume and Jerry B. Gough scoured manuscript census returns to determine the age, occupation, property holdings, literacy, and slaveholdings of 839 of the conventions' 1,018 delegates. Carefully analyzing convention voting records on certain issues -- including race, suffrage, and government structure -- they correlate delegates' voting patterns with their racial and socioeconomic status. The authors then assign a "Republican support score" to each delegate who voted often enough to count, establishing the degree to which each delegate adhered to the Republican leaders' program at his convention. Using these scores, they divide the delegates into three groups -- radicals, swing voters, and conservatives -- and incorporate their quantitative findings into the narrative histories of each convention, providing, for the first time, a detailed analysis of these long-overlooked assemblies. Hume and Gough's comprehensive study offers an objective look at the accomplishments and shortcomings of the conventions and humanizes the delegates who have until now been understood largely as stereotypes. Blacks, Carpetbaggers, and Scalawags provides an essential reference guide for anyone seeking a better understanding of the Reconstruction era.

Rock Hall, Maryland, is a small, tranquil community nestled in Kent County on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Settled by fishermen and recently released indentured servants lured by subsistence fishing and farming, the town soon earned a reputation for enormous hauls of rockfish; thus, Rock Haul (later Rock Hall) was named. Eventually shipbuilding and other water-oriented enterprises developed, and the town evolved. More than 300 years later, farmers and watermen still provide the basis of the communitys economy, and the residents are evermore dedicated to historic preservation. During the Falklands war Jerry Pook, a pilot in No. 1(F) Squadron RAF, flew air interdiction, armed reccon, close-air-support and airfield attack as well as pure photo-reccon missions. Most weapons were delivered from extreme low-level attacks because of the lack of navigation aids and in the absence of Smart weapons. The only way he could achieve results was to get low down and close-in to the targets and, if necessary, carry out re-attacks to destroy high-value targets. Apart from brief carrier trials carried out many years previously there had been no RAF Harriers deployed at sea. The RAF pilots were treated with ill-disguised contempt by their naval masters, their professional opinions ignored in spite of the fact that the RN knew next to nothing about ground-attack and reccon operations. Very soon after starting operations from the aircraft carrier HMS Hermes the squadron realized that they were considered as more or less expendable ordnance. The Harriers lacked the most basic self-protection aids and were up against 10,000 well-armed troops who put up an impressive weight of fire whenever attacked.
