The book is baded on my real life experiences as an older man in the Dating game for over 15 years. After years in the dating game I experienced many events, situations, and types of women. I look at these experiences honestly and humorously. The statuses of women that an older man has available for dating are reviewed. Also what a single man needs to do to attract desirable women and where and how to go to meet desirable women are discussed, because we all know where to meet undesirable women. The pleasures and pitfalls of dating, romance, and sex are discussed. It does not show how to solve all dating problems, but most of the dating problems to avoid are discussed. It seems that both men and women hate dating and it is our own fault. I encourage men to take control of their life and their dating. The book desribes the characteristics that men desire in women and the characteristics which men find not tolerable in women. It also describes the places to meet women and which are good and which are a waste of time and money. It is an honest, humorous and witty look at this confusing and illogical part of our social life.

The second chapter reviews the neurological examination of the comatose patient, which provides the basis for determining whether the patient is suffering from a structural brain injury causing the coma, or from a metabolic disorder of consciousness. The third and fourth chapters review the pathophysiology of structural lesions causing coma, and the specific disease states that result in coma. Chapter five is a comprehensive treatment of the many causes of metabolic coma. Chapter 6 review psychiatric causes of unresponsiveness and how to identify and treat them. Chapters 7 and 8 review the overall emergency treatment of comatose patients, followed by the treatment of specific causes of coma. Chapter 9 examines the long term outcomes of coma, including the minimally conscious state and the persistent vegetative state, and how they can be distinguished, and their implications for eventual useful recovery. Chapter 10 reviews the topic of brain death and the standards for examination of a patient that are required to make the determination of brain death. The final chapter 11 is by J.J. Fins, a medical ethicist who was invited by the other authors to write an essay on the ethics of diagnosis and treatment of patients who, by definition, have no way to approve of or communicate about their wishes. While providing detailed background for neurological and neurosurgical specialists, the practical nature of the material in this book has found its greatest use among Internists, Emergency Medicine, and Intensive Care specialists, who deal with comatose patients frequently, but who may not have had extensive neurological training.

Zeitmaße is one of a group of four acknowledged masterpieces composed between 1955 and 1957 that together established Karlheinz Stockhausen as the leading figure in the European avant-garde. Of the four works, it is the only one that has not been thoroughly analysed from the composer's sketches and, for this reason, remains the least-well understood. In this volume, Jerome Kohl provides a much-needed analysis of Zeitmaße, considering its standing in the group and in the wider context of Stockhausen's output. Using recently published correspondence and other documentation from the period, together with surviving sketch material, Kohl investigates the compositional procedures employed in Zeitmaße and their evolution. He discusses the wide range of influences discernible in the work, from that of both past generations of composers and contemporaries, to the impact of Stockhausen's studies in acoustics, phonetics and information theory on his music. The book closes with an examination of the reception of Zeitmaße and its associated concepts in the years following its composition, and shows how the key concepts utilized in the work are themselves a reflection of the properties seen in the very Zeitgeist that produced them.

Since its earliest days, the Christian Church sought to draw up rules by which its members could live together in religious communities. Whilst those of Augustine (c.400 AD) and Benedict (c.530 AD) provided detailed guidance for monastic life, it took another two centuries for equivalent rules for secular clergy to become accepted on a wide scale. The earliest surviving set of comprehensive rules for canons are those written in the mid-eighth century by St Chrodegang (c.712-766), Bishop of Metz. Writing initially for secular clergy at Metz Cathedral, this work shows how Chrodegang's rule borrowed much from the Benedictine tradition, dealing with many of the same concerns such as the housing, feeding and disciplining of members of the community and the daily routine of the divine offices. At a time when there was no consensus on how clergy should live - whether they should marry or were eligible to own property - Chrodegang's rule provided clear guidance on such issues, and inspired reformers across Europe to consider how clergy lived and interacted with wider society. Although his work was superseded within a generation by the Rule of Aachen, Chrodegang succeeded in setting the agenda for subsequent rules for canons and as such his rule deserves to be given more weight by Church historians than has hitherto been the case. Providing the Latin texts and English translations of the three surviving versions of Chrodegang's rule, (Regula Originalis Chrodegangi, Institutio Canonicorum, Regula Longior Canonicorum) this volume provides an invaluable resource to scholars of medieval Christian communities. Substantial introductions to each text provide historical context and bibliographic details, allowing them to be understood in a much fuller way than has hitherto been possible.

Patients with cancer can suffer from a bewildering variety of neurologic signs and symptoms. The neurologic symptoms are often more disabling than the primary cancer. Symptoms including confusion, seizures, pain and paralysis may be a result of either metastases to the nervous system or one of several nonmetastatic complications of cancer. The physician who promptly recognizes neurologic symptoms occurring in a patient with cancer and makes an early diagnosis may prevent the symptoms from becoming permanently disabling or sometimes lethal. This monograph, an update of the first edition published in 1995, is divided into 3 sections. The first classifies the wide variety of disorders that can cause neurologic symptoms the patient with cancer, discusses the pathophysiology of nervous system metastases, the pathophysiology and treatment of brain edema and the approach to supportive care of common neurologic symptoms such as seizures, pain, and side effects of commonly used supportive care agents. The second section is devoted to nervous system metastases, addressing in turn, brain, spinal cord, meningeal and cranial and peripheral nerve metastases, describing clinical symptoms, approach to diagnosis and current treatment. The third section addresses several nonmetastatic complications of cancer and includes sections on vascular disease, infections, metabolic and nutritional disorders, side chemotherapy, radiation and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The final chapter addresses paraneoplastic syndromes.The book is intended for practicing oncologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons and radiation oncologists as well as internists who treated patients with cancer. Our attempt was to write a book that would assist oncologists in understanding neurologic problems and neurologists in understanding oncologic problems. The book is also intended for physicians training to specialize in any of the above areas. It includes a practical approach to the diagnosis and management of patients with neurologic disease who are with known to have cancer or in whom cancer is suspected.
