Life is complicated, and it's easy to lose sight of Jesus' words. We find ourselves fighting bitter political and social battles in an effort to preserve Christian values, but we forget that our "enemies" are the very ones we need to introduce to the love of Jesus. People are walking away from the church in record numbers, but they are not necessarily walking away from faith. If we decide to infuse the church with higher standards of theological education, scientific literacy, transparency, and the authenticity that pulls the curtains away from the real person of Christ, then we will be poised to see a resurgence of those who boldly count themselves as followers of Jesus.

The book starts with a summary of the climate change problem and develops a Climate Change, National Interests, International Cooperation (CCNIIC) model of the climate response system. Webb reviews ‘reverse stress testing’, ‘backcasting’, and ‘theory of change’ methods, showing how they can be used to collect a large sample of possible futures. He also shows how we can explore the multiverse of futures using a new method called thematic chain analysis, finding relevant connections across scenarios. In the second half of the book, Webb explores 175 scenarios collected through 27 interviews with climate change experts. From these scenarios a signal response model is developed. Preconditions for effective social change and behaviour, political will and policy, as well as business and economic activity are synthesised. Lessons include preconditions for effective global responses to climate change, showing what it takes to limit climate change and related impacts. The book finishes with an epilogue, applying the signal response model and preconditions for effective global responses to COVID-19, demonstrating that models from this book can be applied to other global response problems – and used to quickly assess possible response strategies. The relationship between religion and government in the United States ultimately is governed by the Establishment Clause of the Constitution. Since the early 1970s, however, conservative scholars and jurists have been increasingly influential in arguing that the "wall of separation" metaphor is inappropriate for explaining the relationship between religion and government. They have suggested that the framers of the Constitution supported governmental accommodation and encouragement of religion through means that included sponsoring prayers in public fora, promoting public displays of religious symbols, and financing religious institutions. This book argues that this increasingly influential "Accommodationist" interpretation of the Establishment Clause of the Constitution is ill-founded. The historical arguments upon which the Accommodationists rely do not support the interpretation they offer. This argument does not challenge the Accommodationist belief in the importance of "founders’ intent" adjudication. This book shows, instead, that the founders did not assume that the Establishment Clause had any specific meaning.

Historians of the long eighteenth century have recently recognised that this period is central both to the history of cultural production and consumption and to the history of national and regional identity. Yet no book has, as yet, directly engaged with these two areas of interest at the same time. By uniting interest in the history of culture with the history of regional identity, Creating and Consuming Culture in North-East England, 1660-1830 is of crucial importance to a wide range of historians and intervenes in a number of highly important historical and conceptual debates in a timely and provocative way. The book makes a substantial contribution to eighteenth-century studies. Not only do these essays demonstrate that in thinking about cultural production and consumption in the eighteenth century there are important continuities as well as changes that need to be considered, but also they complicate the commonplace assumption of metropolitan-led cultural change and cultural innovation. Rather than the usual model of centre-periphery diffusion, a number of contributions show that cultural change in the provinces was happening at the same time as in, or in some cases even before, London. The essays also indicate the complex relationship between cultural consumption and social status, with some cultural forms being more inclusive than others.
