Pristine architecture and flawlessly clean streets are the only things ‘perfect’ in the holy city of Volissa, frozen beauty of the north, but hidden behind white tile and the lofty wings of the angels hides a dark truth; when divinity is passed down through blood, one does not need to be righteous to command power. Kane understands this all too well as he seeks a way to unseat the angels and their god-kings from their position of power, but can he manage it when everything he has built for himself is threatened to become undone? In a sudden race against time, Kane has to earn the trust of cautious strangers lest he has to sacrifice love for the sake of the cause. Can Kane save his soul and the spirit of freedom, or will he have to let one die?
Finding freedom in Christ... Follow Dr. Jeremiah through the letters of Colossians and Philemon in a chapter-by-chapter study that will help you understand what it meant to the people at the time it was written, and what it means to Christians today. The apostle Paul may never have visited the small town of Colossae, located in modern-day Turkey, but he was linked to the congregation through a coworker named Epaphras. This man came to visit Paul while he was imprisoned in Rome to deliver troubling news about destructive teachings that had taken root in the Colossian fellowship. Paul penned a letter in response, urging the believers to experience the freedom they had found in Christ, recognize their salvation came through the Lordship of Jesus alone, and reflect the light of Christ in their lives. Paul also penned a short personal letter to a Colossian believer named Philemon, urging him to forgive a slave who had departed from him and receive him back as a fellow brother. Paul's words in these letters compel us to remember everything that Jesus has done for us and treat others as we want to be treated. The cost of being Christ's disciples... Follow Dr. Jeremiah through the book of 2 Corinthians in a chapter-by-chapter study that will help you understand what it meant to the people at the time it was written, and what it means to Christians today. The apostle Paul founded many churches in the Roman Empire, including one in the prominent city of Corinth. But after personally ministering to them for years, he is saddened to discover that he's being viciously slandered and ridiculed by adversaries who have arrived in the region. Paul responds by penning a second letter to them, defending not only his authority as an apostle of Christ but also the truth of the gospel he had so painstakingly modelled in their midst. Paul's words reveal the cost of following Christ—and the ultimate rewards that await those who are faithful to Jesus. Paul's reminder of our identity in Christ... Follow Dr. Jeremiah through the letter of Ephesians in a chapter-by-chapter study that will help you understand what it meant to the people at the time it was written, and what it means to Christians today. Ephesus was located in a region where Christianity and pagan religions were clashing. However, the apostle Paul saw an opportunity to advance the kingdom of God. In the letter to the Ephesians, Paul walks believers through their spiritual inheritance in Christ. This inheritance moves them from death to life and into God's family—something so much better than anything they had in their former lives. Because of this, they need to "walk worthy of their calling," understand and use their spiritual gifts, and put on the armor of God. God guides our witness and our walk... Follow Dr. Jeremiah through the book of Acts in a chapter-by-chapter study that will help you understand what it meant to the people at the time it was written, and what it means to Christians today. In the book of Acts, we have a record of the most fertile period of outreach in the history of Christianity. Churches were planted near and far as Jesus' followers proclaimed the message of Christ. Luke's record in Acts reveals that God places a premium on the spread of the gospel. Jesus is our salvation... The apostle Paul makes his appearance in the Bible as an ambitious Pharisee who is determined to destroy the early church. But his religious world comes crashing down when he meets the risen Jesus on the road to Damascus. Paul is never the same, and soon he is traveling across the world to spread the gospel. This work is a twofold treatise. It first concerns “Jacob’s Seed” as an exposition of Isa. 65:19, “I did not say to the seed of Jacob, ‘Seek me in vain.’” Burroughs shows how prayer is not in vain if it is done by God’s people with a right end, though we might not see or gain what we want from prayer immediately. The second treatise is called “David’s Delight” and is an exposition from Psalm 16:3, “But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent in whom is all my delight.” Burroughs teaches that the people of God should be the delight of the Christian since Christ is in her midst. Two powerful works by a master teacher and preacher. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.
Key Bible verses, quotes from the book, reflective readings, and questions for self-discovery accompany the reader on the most crucial pilgrimage of all.

Jesus will return... Follow Dr. Jeremiah through the letters of 1 and 2 Thessalonians in a chapter-by-chapter study that will help you understand what it meant to the people at the time it was written, and what it means to Christians today. The apostle Paul founded many churches in the Roman Empire, including one in the Greek city of Thessalonica, which he visited during his second missionary journey. At that time Paul had been forced to flee the city, so he sent his coworker Timothy back to check on the congregation. Paul was encouraged at Timothy's report but felt compelled to address misconceptions they had about the return of Christ. In each letter, Paul stressed that Jesus is coming back, that believers who are alive at the time will be gathered to Him, and that they needed to maintain a holy life and avoid idleness as they waited. Paul's words likewise reveal to all believers today that Jesus will return—but that we need to keep doing His work in the meantime. The relationship of repentance to redemption in Jeremiah is a problem compounded of authenticity and redaction. From an intensive analysis of the relevant texts and a review of the secondary literature, Unterman argues that the dominant trend of scholarship is methodologically flawed and biased. The Jeremianic texts dealt with in this study represent concepts and vocabulary which influence or logically precede Ezekiel and II Isaiah, fit the historical background of the late 7th and 6th centuries BCE, and relate to, but are essentially different from, the literature known as Deuteronomistic. Jeremiah's thought on the relationship of repentance to redemption is to be understood from the historical and ideological background of the prophet himself. This thought progressed through three stages: in Jeremiah's early prophecies on redemption human repentance and divine mercy are equal factors; between 597 and 587 repentance plays a secondary role to YHWH's mercy; during the period of the destruction of Jerusalem the prophet's despair at the people's inability to repent results in the elimination of the demand for repentance, so that redemption would now depend solely on God's mercy. Included in this study are excursuses on the prophets Amos, Hosea, Ezekiel and II Isaiah, which help to place Jeremiah's thought in historical perspective.
