Chosen to witness His Greatness is about gaining a greater understanding of the truth that God wanted you for Himself before your existence. The book highlights the needed sacrifice of Jesus Christ as God’s overall intended plan to birth a generation of sons and daughters from His Spirit. The acceptance of God’s wisdom by receiving the final work of His son Jesus, grants any human being the right to live on this earth under His protection. The book highlights the importance of studying God’s word with the mindset that the scriptures are meant to reveal the evidence of His love and the enemy’s plan to distract and detour believers by using emotions, shame, guilt and even loved ones to cause Christians to question the righteousness that is given free in Christ Jesus graciously.

An underground rescue movement forms to save these Defectives, but can the overwhelming tide be turned in time to save innocent lives?
When Janice Morgan, a divorced college professor living in a small town in Kentucky, learns that her son has been arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and drug charges, she feels like she’s living a nightmare. Dylan’s turbulent period as a college student in Cincinnati before this should have warned her, but it’s only now that she realizes how far he has drifted into substance abuse and addiction. As Dylan passes through the judicial system and eventually receives a diversion to drug court, Morgan breathes a sigh of relief—only to find that she, too, has been sentenced right along with him. In the months to follow, she leads a double life: part of it on campus, the rest embarking upon what she calls “rescue missions” to help Dylan stay in the program. But resilience, dark humor, and extreme parenting can only carry you so far. Eventually, Morgan discovers that she needs to gain a deeper understanding of the bipolar and addiction issues her son is dealing with. Will each of them be able to learn fast enough to face these complexities in their lives? Clearly, Dylan isn’t the only one who has recovery work to do.

Knowlton experiences a flood of repressed childhood memories, and realizes that her father was L.A.'s notorious Black Dahlia Killer. A detailed account of murder, money, scandal and family tensions. Richard Oland, once co-owner of Moosehead Breweries, was brutally murdered in his office in downtown Saint John, New Brunswick in the early evening of July 6th, 2011. His killer sprayed blood everywhere as he smashed Richard Oland’s head with dozens of blows. It had all the characteristics of an organized crime hit, designed to kill one and warn others. His murder remains unsolved and unexplained. The Saint John city police have no suspects. Individuals who could explain the murder have disappeared, pleaded bad memories or gone silent. Saint John, and the rest of Canada, were witnesses to two murder trials where Dennis Oland, Richard’s son, stood accused of the murder. In this book, Janice Middleton sets out the obvious and clear evidence that Dennis could not have been the murderer. Even so, Dennis was convicted by a jury in his first trial, likely because everyone in the city knew of a motive that was never mentioned in court: Richard had had an affair with his son's wife. The Oland family got Dennis acquitted, but his acquittal left questions unanswered: who killed Richard Oland? And why was he targeted? Janice Middleton pieces together the tangled story of Saint John’s most dysfunctional citizens. She points to people who might have wanted Richard Oland dead, shadowy investors who arrived in Saint John to finance the re-opening of the local sugar refinery. The deal went sour, the investors lost millions, and they disappeared from sight. This is a compelling account of how someone got away with murdering a rich, powerful, sleazy leading citizen of Saint John.
In its hard headed, richly documented concreteness, it is worth a thousand polemics." -- New York Times, from a review of the first edition "The Curse deserves a place in every women's studies library collection." -- Sharon Golub, editor of Lifting the curse of Menstruation "A stimulating and useful book, both for the scholarly and the general reader." -- Paula A. A Mississippi historian chronicles the rise and fall of The Magnolia State’s moonshine empire in this revealing true crime history. For most states, the repeal of prohibition meant a return to legally drunken normalcy, but not so in Mississippi. The state had gone dry more than a decade before the rest of the nation. In that time, a lucrative black market for moonshine and bonded liquor became a way of life for many Mississippians. By the time Prohibition was lifted, bootleggers and state politicians were unwilling to give up their hold on the sale of alcohol. For nearly sixty years, Mississippi was known as the "wettest dry state in the country." Until statewide prohibition was finally repealed in 1966, illegal booze fueled a corrupt political machine that intimidated journalists who dared to speak against it and fixed juries that threatened its interests. Author and native Mississippian Janice Branch Tracy offers an intimate and authoritative look inside Mississippi Moonshine Politics.

Crime and Punishment provides genealogists and social historians with context and tools to locate sources on criminal activity and its consequences during the Upper Canada period of Ontarios history through engravings, maps, charts, documents, and case studies.

Let me take you on a journey through my memories, a journey filled with despair, yet brimming with hope. I'm one of the children of a cacodemonic (demon-possessed) biological dad. My memoirs are both gripping and inspirational. They chronicle my life from when I asked Jesus into my heart, at the tender age of sixteen (after living on the streets for two years), to the birth of all four of my children and my dad's funeral. My prequel will take the reader deeper into my childhood""from my birth to my sixteenth year of life. I believe these books are important because they shed a much-needed light on the sensitive subjects of neglect and abuse from a firsthand eyewitness. I hope and pray that they'll become a valuable resource for others like me and for the people who love them and are trying to help. For those of you who've also suffered the pain of neglect and abuse, I'd like to say, "I'm sorry." Nobody on earth will ever fully understand your pain. That's God's job! Jesus became a man so that He could walk in our shoes, and He suffered horribly on the cross, willingly to save us from ourselves and this world. He can save you, but only if you let Him!
Disciplinary psychology has failed to achieve a coherent conception of human agency. Instead, it oscillates between two differing conceptions of agency that are equally untenable: a scientistic, reductive approach to choice and action, and an instrumental approach that celebrates a romantic notion of free will. This book examines theoretical, philosophical psychology and argues for a historically and socioculturally situated human capacity for choosing and acting in ways not entirely determined by culture and/or biology. The authors present a detailed developmental theory of how agentic capability emerges from the pre-reflective activity of humans in a real physical and social world. Implications of the theory are considered for psychological research and practice, and for the broader socio-political impact of disciplinary psychology in Western liberal democracies.

This book considers the cultural meanings of death in American journalism and the role of journalism in interpretations and enactments of public grief, which has returned to an almost Victorian level. A number of researchers have begun to address this growing collective preoccupation with death in modern life; few scholars, however, have studied the central forum for the conveyance and construction of public grief today: news media. News reports about death have a powerful impact and cultural authority because they bring emotional immediacy to matters of fact, telling stories of real people who die in real circumstances and real people who mourn them. Moreover, through news media, a broader audience mourns along with the central characters in those stories, and, in turn, news media cover the extended rituals. Journalism in a Culture of Grief examines this process through a range of types of death and types of news media. It discusses the reporting of horrific events such as September 11 and Hurricane Katrina; it considers the cultural role of obituaries and the instructive work of coverage of teens killed due to their own risky behaviors; and it assesses the role of news media in conducting national, patriotic memorial rituals.
