Now retired, she catches up with some of her former “Club kids” to see where life has taken them since they walked out those blue doors. Interwoven with their stories is her own journey to—and through—those same doors. She uses the stories of individual Club kids (as well as exceptional volunteers and professional staff) to shine a light on issues of self-esteem, childhood trauma, and generational poverty. Sutter believes it is important to share a sense of hope with young people from all walks of life, not just those in our immediate families, to create stronger, more-compassionate communities.
