This is one of the most important baseball books to be published in a long time, taking a comprehensive look at black participation in the national pastime from 1858 through 1900. It provides team rosters and team histories, player biographies, a list of umpires and games they officiated and information on team managers and team secretaries. Well known organizations like the Washington's Mutuals, Philadelphia Pythians, Chicago Uniques, St. Louis Black Stockings, Cuban Giants and Chicago Unions are documented, as well as lesser known teams like the Wilmington Mutuals, Newton Black Stockings, San Francisco Enterprise, Dallas Black Stockings, Galveston Flyaways, Louisville Brotherhoods and Helena Pastimes. Player biographies trace their connections between teams across the country. Essays frame the biographies, discussing the social and cultural events that shaped black baseball. Waiters and barbers formed the earliest organized clubs and developed local, regional and national circuits. Some players belonged to both white and colored clubs, and some umpires officiated colored, white and interracial matches. High schools nurtured young players and transformed them into powerhouse teams, like Cincinnati's Vigilant Base Ball Club. A special essay covers visual representations of black baseball and the artists who created them, including colored artists of color who were also baseballists.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a franchise-based professional Twenty20 cricket league started by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in February 2016. As the name suggests, the tournament is played in Pakistan with franchise teams representing different cities. Initially, there were five franchises, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators, but in 2018, a sixth team, Multan Sultans, was added. Each team is allowed to have a maximum of 21 players, which includes a combination of local and foreign players. The tournament has rapidly gained popularity and has attracted many high-profile international players such as Chris Gayle, Shane Watson, Kevin Pietersen, and Darren Sammy. The league takes place annually, usually in February and March, and comprises of a double round-robin format, in which each team plays against each other twice before four teams advance to the playoffs. The playoffs consist of two semi-finals before the final, which takes place at the National Stadium in Karachi. The PSL has been beneficial for the development of cricket in Pakistan and has significantly boosted the country's image on the international cricketing stage.

Throughout their elementary, middle school, and early high school years, the triplets and two other brothers learn from teammates and coaches. They experience adulation and newspaper notoriety, causing their mother to constantly remind them to refrain from self-absorption and to work together. In 1956, the brothers participate in a historic event in the nations basketball history when they form and play as the starting five for Mead High. This story, told through the eyes of sixteenth-born and triplet Ronald James Newton, recounts his struggles in the classroom and on the basketball court and portrays his striving toward development of meaningful and satisfying relationships with classmates, family, and friends. The storys threads of spirituality and facing and rising above adversity are enveloped in the bonding relationships that small-town and small-school athletics provide and are crowned by Meads 57 state basketball championship victory.

Some, such as CB Fry and Denis Compton, will be well-known; others, such as Aramugam Vijiaratnam, who represented Singapore in four sports and Ken Hough, who played three different sports for three different countries may be less well-known. But everyone listed has excelled at more than one sport and this book serves to recognize their achievements.

LeBron James is a professional basketball player who currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. He was born on December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio. James was raised by his mother who struggled to raise him as a single parent in poverty. He started playing basketball at a young age and quickly developed a love for the game. During his high school career, James was considered one of the best players in the country and was heavily scouted by college and NBA coaches. James was selected as the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He quickly established himself as a dominant player in the league, winning the Rookie of the Year award in his first season. James spent the first seven years of his career with the Cavaliers, leading them to the NBA Finals in 2007 but ultimately falling short. In 2010, James left Cleveland to join the Miami Heat, where he won two NBA championships in his four years there. He returned to Cleveland in 2014 and brought the city their first NBA championship in 2016 after a historic comeback in the Finals. James has been named the NBA MVP four times and is regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
