Creativity has been of central importance to the development of the modern State, and yet creativity is something that has become increasingly side-lined. This has been particularly apparent with the development of new machinic technologies, such as 3D printing. This monograph argues that inner creativity, combined with the zone of discourse, has been endangered by the rise of administrative regulation. Griffin investigates how the failure to incorporate creativity into that administrative regulation is adversely impacting the regulation of technologies such as 3D printing. The State of Creativity, proposes reforms to ensure that the regulation does take creativity into account.

Texas Ranger Lieutenant Jim Blawcyzk is on the trail of the men responsible for the killing of a fellow Ranger and the disappearance of another. As Jim inserted the knife into a chink in the rocks, a bullet smacked into the wall just alongside his head, followed by the sharp crack of a rifle. Jim dove to his belly, pinned behind the inadequate cover of the ledge's slight lip as the hidden rifleman swept the rocks with an almost impossibly rapid fire. As the barrage of lead stopped for a brief instant, Jim chanced lifting his head ever so slightly, scanning the canyon in an attempt to locate the bushwhacker. "Got him spotted, on the rim over to the other side of the canyon," he said, as a glint of sunlight reflected off the gunman's rifle barrel for an instant. "Not that it'll do me much good," he muttered, ducking back as his assailant finished reloading and again swept the ledge with a rapid-fire volley. "My Winchester's still on my saddle, and he's way outta range for a six-gun, even tryin' a lucky shot. He can keep me pinned down here long as he wants. And sooner or later he's gonna nail me." As bullets whined over his precarious perch, Jim glanced downward, then, taking a desperate chance, threw himself over the edge of the shelf.

In Bullet for a Ranger, the latest novel in the Texas Ranger Jim Blawcyzk series, Jim is locked in a jail cell in the town of Quitaque, accused of murdering a saloon woman while in a drunken rage. Even though the idea of the happily married, loyal family man, non-drinking and church-going Blawcyzk being involved with a saloon entertainer, then killing her, is extremely far-fetched, the evidence against the Ranger Lieutenant is so strong even he has to admit he stands a good chance of being convicted. Worse, Jim has no recollection of the night or the events in question. His only sure ally is the priest from the local Catholic mission, and even the good padre has his doubts about Blawcyzk's innocence. Hoped-for help from one of his fellow Rangers has failed to materialize, and the date for Blawcyzk's trial is fast approaching. Somehow, Jim must figure out who is really the woman's killer, or face a quick hanging. Solving the mystery from his cell is proving to be an almost insurmountable task.

Texas Ranger Jim Blawcyzk is riding the El Paso Limited en route to a routine assignment...until the train is wrecked and robbed. What at first appears to be an isolated train robbery leads the Ranger to a much larger plot to destroy the Texas Pacific Railroad. Not only having to try and stop the renegades determined to destroy the railroad, Blawcyzk also finds himself the target of a mysterious dry-gulcher. "Just ahead, Sam," Jim sighed in relief, as a flash of lightning revealed a low cliff, with several good-sized boulders scattered at its base. "We'll rest for the night. We've stuck it out through worse, pard. You'll be......." Jim's voice stopped short, as a bullet split the air alongside his head, followed by the sharp crack of a rifle. He ripped at his reins, yanking Sam around. "Get outta here, fast, Sam. Can't see where those shots are comin' from. Give it all you got," he shouted, as bullets ripped the air. As lightning flickered and the rifle snarled again, the Ranger threw up his hands and slewed out of the saddle, to lie sprawled in the mud. Sam reared and galloped down the trail, then halted and turned, nickering questioningly at the prone form of his rider.
