Its unscrupulous head is a well-placed, thug named Ernie Katz. His role is to siphon all the money he can from Crescent and then sell it. To do this, he needs a big screen success to entice investors to purchase Crescent and assure a large profit for a New York syndicate which hired him. To provide a solid guarantee on the movie, he hires Claudia as the lead. Then as a further assurance, he engages a hit man named Oliver Templeton to become her boyfriend. Katz and Templeton hatch a plan to kill Claudia when the filming ends. The murder will appear as suicide, and her grieving public will flock to the box office with tears in their eyes to see her for the last time. Fortunately, Claudia becomes aware of the plot on the final day of filming and is able to escape Oliver Templeton with only moments to spare. For months, she cris-crosses the country on the run, while Templeton stays only steps behind her. After several near-fatal encounters, she ends up in Whitetail, Montana, where she at last meets Alvin Masters. Together they stage a last ditch attempt to save her life. They also discover a spiritual and romantic closeness which baffles even themselves.
Heritage, Wyoming is not an ordinary western town. Along its dusty streets, hidden in its wood-framed buildings and camouflaged amongst its hard working people lurks a monster. He's an evil being-a killer of women and children. This vile creature has to be stopped, but it will take a tenacious, remorseless man to do it. Enter bounty hunter George Dark, an aging loner who has a murderous reputation and few illusions. He drifts into Heritage, a trail worn gunman on a stringy, half dead horse. He's the worst of his kind-tough and deadly. He's been paid a fortune by a dead Mexican to find the killer of the man's family, and when Dark is paid, he always completes the job. What George Dark doesn't realize, however, is that his sense of right and wrong and even his grip on reality will soon be tested. These will be hard lessons for the man they call, The Reaper.

Columbus has long been known for its musicians. Unlike New York, San Francisco, Kansas City, Nashville, or even Cincinnati, however, it has never had a definable scene. Still, some truly remarkable music has been made in this musical crossroads by the many outstanding musicians who have called it home. Since 1900, Columbus has grown from the 28th- to the 15th-largest city in the United States. During this period, it has developed into a musically vibrant community that has nurtured the talents of such artists as Elsie Janis, Ted Lewis, Nancy Wilson, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Dwight Yoakam, Bow Wow, and Rascal Flatts. But, in many instances, those who chose to remain at home were as good and, perhaps, even better.
Family Law emphasizes the issues and skills most relevant to domestic relations practice. The text employs a novel and dramatic organization with three substantive units that compare the legal treatment of the parent-child relationship vs. adult intimate relationships at stages of formation, regulation, and dissolution. In keeping with the modern reorientation of the field, Family Law reflects the transition "From Partners to Parents" beginning with the creation of parent-child relationship rather than marriage. Its geographical breadth delivers more comparative materials than other texts, using examples from a variety of cultures to provoke "why don't we do this?" considerations. Each student-friendly chapter and section begins with a clear summary of current law that orients the reader before examining legal texts in detail. This structure invites theoretical critique only after a solid foundation is laid. Statutes are core to the text which gives proper emphasis to the vital skill of statutory interpretation in todays practice. Up-to-date material provides more recent cases than any other textbook. With an empirical emphasis, Family Law draws from the significant literature in sociology, psychology, anthropology and other fields so that legal analysis is grounded in real-life application. Focused questions direct students to the heart of the analysis, often using headings before questions to alert readers to the type of analysis required, for example: statutory interpretation, policy, client counseling, and moral theory.
