Destiny is a troubled young lady, who is looking for true happiness in life. She has some disturbing family secrets that she has no knowledge of since her birth mother left her with her grandparents at a very young age. After losing her grandparents, Destiny seeks the advice of a therapist who is familiar with the family, and when the therapist gives Destiny some advice that backfires, Destiny is outraged and she wants revenge on the therapist. Destiny finds out secrets about her therapist, her clients, and all-hell breaks loose. Families are torn apart because of too many secrets and lies. A life is lost and once the commotion is over, Destiny lets her ex-therapist know that she is not her fool anymore.
Originally published in 1985, Women Attached was one of the first empirical studies in geography to deal with the special problems of women with young children. Even within sociology and psychology there were very few studies in this area at the time. Within geography the study of this population sub-group was certainly a new departure. However, it was impossible to make meaningful sense of the structure of daily lives and activities of women without taking in to account the nature and impact of constraints on such activities. Young children being the most clearly visible constraint in women’s lives. Therefore, one aim of the research project was to relate empirical findings to the existing social science literature dealing with constraints on activities. This book was an attempt to redress the balance slightly in favour of women’s activities and specifically focuses on a group of women who had only rarely been the subject of research interest at the time. Today it can read in its historical context.
This book investigates how actors organize in order to solve a water quality problem. Research on the use of environmental resources has mainly focused on the circumstances needed for users to self-organize or to maintain an already sustainable way of resource use. Few studies have investigated the reasons why actors start to cooperate when they are faced with an environmental problem. Actor networks in three regions of the Rhine catchment area are scrutinized regarding a) actors’ cooperation pattern when managing an environmental problem; and b) the factors that trigger actors in a common-pool resource situation to initiate cooperation. Water quality policy is analysed in two European countries – Germany and Luxembourg – and one non-European country - Switzerland –, providing an overview of the distinctive measures applied in these regions aiming to tackle the water quality problem of micro-pollutants in river surface water. Applying the social-ecological system framework (SESF) devised by E. Ostrom and her colleagues and Social Network Analysis (SNA), the current book combines qualitative and quantitative methods to answer the question of why actors cooperate in the management process of an environmental problem like water pollution.

The tween is the «new girl on the block» in girlhood studies. Although the study of tween life may have derived from a particular marketing orientation at the end of the twentieth century, it is not limited by it.
