The Wilsons: Occasionally Broke, But Never Poor is a story about the early days of the Wilson family of Texas, from 1926 to the mid-1960s. It describes the Great Depression and how the family patriarch, Dr. Emilus Wilson, saw most of his eleven kids and their families move back home to Corpus Christi. The book talks about the early days of Jack and his brother, Welcome, at the University of Houston, who were dropped off at the University of Houston with fifty dollars and told that they were on their own. It talks about their successful endeavor to obtain a Houston bank charter in the early 1960s, though they held total cash reserves of six hundred dollars, and their ten-year activity in civil defense during the Cold War (which included witnessing the Atom Bomb test in Nevada). The book concludes with a chapter about Jack Wilson's father, E.E. (Jack) Wilson, one of the great characters of all time.

They examine in detail late Maoist society in 1979-80 and go on to describe and analyse the extraordinary changes of the post-Mao years, during which Zengbu was decollectivized, and traditional customs and religious practices reappeared.

Nicknamed the 'Unicorns', the 359th FG was one of the last groups to arrive in the UK for service in the ETO with the Eighth Air Force. First seeing action on 13 December 1943, the group initially flew bomber escort sweeps in P-47s, before converting to the ubiquitous P-51 in March/April 1944. Throughout its time in the ETO, the 359th was credited with the destruction of 351 enemy aircraft destroyed between December 1943 and May 1945. The exploits of all 12 aces created by the group are detailed, along with the most significant missions flown. This book also discusses the various markings worn by the group's three squadrons, the 368th, 369th and 370th FSs.

In this book, Anderson exposes boxing’s 'exemption' from contemporary legal and social norms. Reviewing all aspects of boxing - historical, legal, moral, ethical, philosophical, medical, racial and regulatory - he concludes that the supposition that boxing has a (consensual) immunity from the ordinary law of violence, based primarily on its social utility as a recognised sport, is not as robust as is usually assumed. It: suggests that the sport is extremely vulnerable to prosecution and might in fact already be illegal under English criminal law outlines the physical and financial exploitation suffered by individual boxers both inside and outside the ring, suggesting that standard boxing contracts are coercive thus illegal and that boxers do not give adequate levels of informed consent to participate advocates a number of fundamental reforms, including possibly that the sport will have to consider banning blows to the head proposes the creation of a national boxing commission in the US and a similar entity in the United Kingdom, which together would attempt to restore the credibility of a sport long know as the red-light district of sports administration. An excellent book, it is a must read for all those studying sports law, popular culture and the law and jurisprudence.
