It shows how the press, the courts and government offi cials contort the facts, twist the truth and subvert the Constitution of the United States for political gain, ideological advantage or more simply and crassly to settle old scores from old political feuds or personal vendettas. It all begins with a slur or an insult, then the retort, then the tit for tat and the poisonous chit chat, then the false witness and rumors that spread like wildfi re, then an eye for an eye the stepped upon step up, and strike back, and, as the worm turns, the backbiting and stone throwing spiral out of control, and that inevitably leads to the singling out of the other or of different people, who are subjected in due course to derision, scorn, retribution, persecution and punishment. It compares the Dreyfus case to the Connolly case, and proves how slander and libel can lead to wrongful, highly destructive prosecutions of innocent men and women.

This book is a draft of chapter one of Mr. Beard's dissertation, The Impact of Constitutional Interpretation on Individual Freedom. He was kicked out of the J.S.D. program by a Dean, who graduated from Harvard Law, because this project was, to put it politely, "politically incorrect;" justification was that it would not contribute anything new or important to the existing scholarship. Once the Dean was no longer at the law school, Mr. Beard's supervisor and co-faculty director of the program invited him back to finish this project. The purpose of this dissertation is to explain how power-elites and branches of government have reinterpreted the U.S. Constitution to increase government power and authority at the expense of individual freedom. There are only two ways to interpret the U.S. Constitution: (1) Under the freedom doctrine; or, (2) as a master-slave relationship, which is what has been going on for the past 100 years. If Americans are not slaves, then the U.S. Government is Illegitimate.

Although the Supreme Court actually admitted it was wrong, never underestimate the political cowardice of the Supreme Court! The court refused to overrule its admittedly wrong decision because to do so would disappoint certain groups. The journey down the rabbit hole that passes for constitutional law continues as we learn that the court thinks the authors of the constitution should have been more specific, but at least had the insight to know that more politically correct future supreme court would be on hand to correct these perceived deficiencies. Because the concept of liberty interest is itself a recent Supreme Court invention, the court has now given itself carte blanche to do whatever suits those in whose eyes it wishes to be deemed enlightened. The more absurd quotations are directly from the courts own opinions. This trip down the rabbit hole is not for the faint of heart, but it is one that everyone concerned about life, law and the constitution should gird themselves to take.
