This book has been written in the face of doctrines that have been generally accepted for around one hundred and eighty years. They all today in their variegated presentations, spring from John Nelson Darby, exclusive Brethren, who, having initiated them in England then went world-wide. He particularly concentrated on the United States, being successful in impregnating his doctrines in the hearts of the most important and influential preachers of that era. We should remember that the outpouring of the Spirit as on the Day of Pentecost had not yet been revived as an experience and doctrine. He question is “Why do the Pentecostals and Charismatics go along with his teachings?” Many old Pentecostals had been Baptists, Fundamentalists and Brethren. Hence they brought in the doctrine with them. Dare we go against the Scriptures to follow Darby and Schofield? Should we not take another look at Darby’s doctrine with present extensions and the Word of God, to see how they match up?

Women faced abuse for millennia although Eve was made a blessing for all. They were first preachers of the resurrection. Priscilla is noted as pastor with four prophetesses. Then Paul acknowledged many women as apostles and pastors. John wrote to a woman pastor. Difficult verses are shown to have solutions advantageous to women. Christ gave ministry gifts to His people, women alongside men. No distinction is made between them. There is not a verse forbidding women to preach or prophesy. Paul encouraged equality. Fasting is treated culturally, religiously and Jewish fashion. God gave fasting for the Day of Atonement. The Jews introduced other fasts. Nehemiah’s and Isaiah’s fasts are explained. Christendom introduced fasting from Jewry and paganism. Christ’s forty days of temptation when He went without food, sustained by the Spirit, was made examples for others, who to fast, should be and so do like Him. Holy Ghost praying is the answer. He is intercessor through us in other tongues that came in the baptism with the Spirit. God hears and answers supernaturally. Mysteries are spoken and gifts of the Spirit bestowed.
For God's purposes of salvation it was necessary that Jesus send the Holy Spirit. He came to the disciples on the Day of Pentecost. He went out from them in living streams to Jewish and then Gentile believers. It was He who would make effective all the blessings stemming from Christ's death and resurrection. The born again experience ensures His indwelling. He produces His fruits in the life. With the coming of the Holy Spirit, 'dunamis' or 'power' was promised for all. The baptism with the Holy Ghost bestowed as in Acts 2:4 is the replica for all to receive. Peter made definite the fact that what he and the others had received was for every believer of every day and age. The author deals with the many verses using this word 'dunamis' or 'power', showing that it means power to do a miracle and even the miracle itself. Therefore, every person receiving from Jesus Christ this baptism and who continues in the experience, has this power working within. This grace is of immeasurable power that produces a change from glory to glory while the same kind of prayer in the Holy Ghost continues to be a major factor in the Christian life. Power giving signs and wonders is assured as that one seeks and receives gifts the Holy Ghost provides.
