Bioleaching of chalcopyrite is always a challenge and research hotspot. The low copper extraction and dissolution kinetics restricted the industrial application of chalcopyrite bioleaching. To solve this problem, the dissolution process and passivation mechanism of chalcopyrite in bioleaching should be first studied, then the rate-limiting steps should be analysed explicitly, and finally the intensifying method can be put forward. Many scholars have made efforts to investigate the dissolution mechanism of chalcopyrite in bioleaching. However, there is no congruence of opinion as yet. Biohydrometallurgy of Chalcopyrite summarizes and discusses the reported research findings. In addition, this book publishes the related results found by the authors' research. Then, the dissolution mechanism of chalcopyrite in bioleaching is interpreted. Finally, the process intensification techniques of chalcopyrite bioleaching are provided and discussed. Hence, this book provides useful reference and guidance in both laboratory research and industrial production. - Interprets the dissolution mechanism of chalcopyrite in bioleaching - Provides feasible technologies for intensifying chalcopyrite bioleaching - Overviews the current situations of chalcopyrite bioleaching - Helps the readers to deeply understand the bioleaching mechanisms of chalcopyrite - Provides topics for future research and potential industrial applications
Specifically dedicated to polymer and biopolymer systems, Polymer Adhesion, Friction, and Lubrication guides readers to the scratch, wear, and lubrication properties of polymers and the engineering applications, from biomedical research to automotive engineering. Author Hongbo Zeng details different experimental and theoretical methods used to probe static and dynamic properties of polymer materials and biomacromolecular systems. Topics include the use of atomic force microscopy (AFM) to analyze nanotribology, polymer thin films and brushes, nanoparticles, rubber and tire technology, synovial joint lubrication, adhesion in paper products, bioMEMS, and electrorheological fluids.
Based on research into jets in supersonic crossflow carried out by the authors’ team over the past 15 years, this book summarizes and presents many cutting-edge findings and analyses on this subject. It tackles the complicated mixing process of gas jets and atomization process of liquid jets in supersonic crossflow, and studies their physical mechanisms. Advanced experimental and numerical techniques are applied to further readers’ understanding of atomization, mixing, and combustion of fuel jets in supersonic crossflow, which can promote superior fuel injection design in scramjet engines. The book offers a valuable reference guide for all researchers and engineers working on the design of scramjet engines, and will also benefit graduate students majoring in aeronautical and aerospace engineering.
This book describes the unsteady phenomena needed to understand supersonic combustion. Following an initial chapter that introduces readers to the basic concepts in and classical studies on unsteady supersonic combustion, the book highlights recent studies on unsteady phenomena, which offer insights on e.g. interactions between acoustic waves and flames, flow dominating instability, ignition instability, flame flashback, and near-blowout-limit combustion. In turn, the book discusses in detail the fundamental mechanisms of these phenomena, and puts forward practical suggestions for future scramjet design.
D2D-based proximity service is a very hot topic with great commercial potential from an application standpoint. Unlike existing books which focus on D2D communications technologies, this book fills a gap by summarizing and analyzing the latest applications and research results in academic, industrial fields, and standardization. The authors present the architecture, fundamental issues, and applications in a D2D networking environment from both application and interdisciplinary points of view.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed joint post-proceedings of the 6th International Workshop on Mathematics Mechanization, IWMM 2004, held in Shanghai, China in May 2004 and the International Workshop on Geometric Invariance and Applications in Engineering, GIAE 2004, held in Xian, China in May 2004. The 30 revised full papers presented were rigorously reviewed and selected from 65 presentations given at the two workshops. The papers are devoted to topics such as applications of computer algebra in celestial and engineering multibody systems, differential equations, computer vision, computer graphics, and the theory and applications of geometric algebra in geometric reasoning, robot vision, and computer graphics.
The demand for more reliable geometric computing in robotics, computer vision and graphics has revitalized many venerable algebraic subjects in mathematics OCo among them, GrassmannOCoCayley algebra and Geometric Algebra. Nowadays, they are used as powerful languages for projective, Euclidean and other classical geometries. This book contains the author and his collaborators' most recent, original development of GrassmannOCoCayley algebra and Geometric Algebra and their applications in automated reasoning of classical geometries. It includes two of the three advanced invariant algebras OCo Cayley bracket algebra, conformal geometric algebra, and null bracket algebra OCo for highly efficient geometric computing. They form the theory of advanced invariants, and capture the intrinsic beauty of geometric languages and geometric computing. Apart from their applications in discrete and computational geometry, the new languages are currently being used in computer vision, graphics and robotics by many researchers worldwide. Sample Chapter(s). Chapter 1: Introduction (252 KB). Contents: Projective Space, Bracket Algebra and GrassmannOCoCayley Algebra; Projective Incidence Geometry with Cayley Bracket Algebra; Projective Conic Geometry with Bracket Algebra and Quadratic Grassmann-Cayley Algebra; Inner-product Bracket Algebra and Clifford Algebra; Geometric Algebra; Euclidean Geometry and Conformal GrassmannOCoCayley Algebra; Conformal Clifford Algebra and Classical Geometries. In this chapter, we present the convergence analysis and applications of particle swarm optimization algorithm. Although it is difficult to analyze the convergence of this algorithm, we discuss its convergence based on its iterated function system and probabilistic theory. The dynamic trajectory of the particle is described based on single individual. We also attempt to theoretically prove that the swarm algorithm converges with a probability of 1 toward the global optimal. We apply the algorithms to solve the scheduling problem and peer-to-peer neighbor selection problem. This chapter is also concerned to employ the nature-inspired optimization methods in machine learning. We introduce the swarm algorithm to reoptimize hidden Markov models.
