This slave narrative, first published in 1848, tells the story of Henry Watson, a former slave who escaped his captivity and fled north to New England. There, he joined the anti-slavery movement and helped with publishing such widely-distributed propaganda booklets, such as this one, which revealed the hidden vileness of the practice. This volume also includes slave poetry and a excerpts from newspapers and journals about slavery.
