What do we all humans have in common? We are all incorrigible seekers of bliss or joy. Our minds are wired to be happy. At least that is what our modern scientific studies contend. Yet most of us know we are not joyful. In fact, we struggle most of time to be and stay happy. What has gone wrong? I have attempted to answer this question in this book. It has been my own journey to arrive at lasting happiness and joy. It builds on the informational, computational foundation of our universe developed in the first book of this series, Road to Digital Divine. It combines latest science of mind and matter with spirituality, putting forth a new concept of our self, the quantum self rooted in the informational nature of our being. Most of us are familiar with our physical self that we see in the mirror. It, however, does not define us completely. What is critical for us to know is our informational self. Knowing the true nature of this self and acting accordingly is essential for us humans to achieve good emotional health and realize lasting joy in our lives. In fact, not knowing or ignoring the messages from this essential nature of our self is the leading reason for suffering in our human society. I paint this self as a tale of three minds: emotional, rational, and cosmic. The three minds computationally synchronized lead to the birth of informational self. This self is a computationally astute structure. It computes using two modes of computation. Each of these modes lead to two extreme personalities. One, binary computation, which leads to a nature of self that courts “I, me, and mine” tendencies. I have called this as our binary self. And the other, quantum computation, which leads to a nature of self with “us, we, and ours” tendencies. I call this as our quantum self. Both these nature of self are quite familiar in today’s society. The binary information processing leads to egoic entity, which is present in most of us. It dominates today’s human society. It is responsible for incredible progress that humans have made as a surviving species, but it is also responsible for most of the sufferings that modern humans face today. The quantum self has saintlike nature. It feels love, empathy, and oneness with others. It is truthful and always stays in the company of divinity. It is responsible for widespread altruism in nature and in humans. With two selves of very different nature in one body, modern humans have learned the meaning of the word “suffering.” Which self will win? Which is our true self? Understanding of this fact is not trivial. In fact, it is nothing short of enlightenment as I explain how the understanding of our true self can lead one on to this path. It can make a profound change in one’s perspective. The joy pouring from deep within is at the root of this reality.

What is Operations management? Every business is managed through three major functions: finance, marketing, and operations management. Illustrates this by showing that the vice presidents of each of these functions report directly to the president or CEO of the company. Other business functions— such as accounting, purchasing, human resources, and engineering—support these three major functions. Finance is the function responsible for managing cash flow, current assets, and capital investments. Marketing is responsible for sales, generating customer demand, and understanding customer wants and needs. Most of us have some idea of what finance and marketing are about, but what does operations management do? Operations management (OM) is the business function that plans, organizes, coordi- nates, and controls the resources needed to produce a company’s goods and services. Operations management is a management function. It involves managing people, equipment, technology, information, and many other resources. Operations management is the central core function of every company. This is true whether the company is large or small, provides a physical good or a service, is for-profit or not-for-profit. Every company has an operations management function. Actually, all the other organizational functions are there primarily to support the operations function. Without operations, there would be no goods or services to sell. Consider a retailer such as The Gap, which sells casual apparel. The marketing function provides promotions for the merchandise, and the finance function provides the needed capital. It is the operations function, however, that plans and coordinates all the resources needed to design, produce, and deliver the merchandise to the various retail locations. Without operations, there would be no goods or services to sell to customers.

For most of us, our current perspective is deeply rooted in the eighteenth-century science of materialism. The new science of information and quantum computation is bringing a fresh perspective, a new understanding about the true nature of us and our universe. It has profound implications to the way us humans understand ourselves and our universe. Since this newer understanding rests on digital and informational nature of being and has divine-like qualities, I have referred to this as “digital divine.” A road to arrive at “digital divinity” has also been my journey to understand this new nature of us and our universe. From this perch, our universe appears like an informational entity rooted deeply in the nature of silence or zero. Broader laws of information seem to describe its nature and behaviors far better than the classical laws of physics. Our physical universe emerges as a computing platform engaged in grand act of quantum and binary information processing. How does one start from a macro view of our perceptual universe and arrive at the computational nature of matter and mind? How do cosmic, emotional, and rational mind arise from this foundation? How does this view impact the concept of my self that I hold deep with in my psyche? The informational and computational description of our universe provides a framework to naturally explain many such difficult questions. As one realizes that this grand informational and quantum computational entity or digital divine is not only rooted in logic, but it is also rooted in love, oneness, or unity consciousness, one embarks on a new understanding of us, our universe, and our divinity; an incredible bridge between science and spirituality. This is an amazing know-how. We can all benefit from this.
