She provides a succinct description of the difficulties and indignities these often terrified and disoriented people have to face and the legal problems they encounter in their struggle to be recognised as genuine refugees in the UK. Some 'modest proposals' are suggested for alleviating the situation in the future, to provide at least a minimum of welcome for those who place their trust in us to save them from persecution.

Instead of teaching the reader which drafting rules prevail, the book explores the reasons why drafting rules have come about, thus encouraging readers to understand what goal is served by each rule and how each rule applies.
