I was 14-years-old when my life suddenly flipped upside down. I woke up on a Saturday unable to walk, or even move without severe pain. I struggled for months before I finally got a diagnosis that no one else in the world has. It hurt, I was in constant pain, and I wasn't sure what to do. I wanted so badly to give up, but I didn't. Instead, I found strength I didn't know I possessed and overcame my many obstacles.

A witty, weird, and wonderful spin on a classic Korean folktale, the first book to be published in English by internationally acclaimed Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award winner Heena Baek One sweltering summer night, while the many residents of one apartment building are struggling to fall asleep, the moon begins to melt. Granny hears it dripping and runs out to catch the moon drops in a bucket. At first unsure what do with the drops, she is soon inspired to turn them into popsicles--moon pops!--to help cool down her neighbors. But as everyone drifts off to sleep, a new problem arises. The fabled rabbits who, according to folklore live on the moon, have lost their home! With the last of the moon drops, Granny grows a new moon from the potted plant in her window. As the moon ascends to the starry sky above, the rabbits return to their home, and Granny returns to her bed. Illustrated in otherworldly mixed-media 3D shoebox dioramas that use unique and exquisite collage art, this quirky and colorful picture book spins a new story from the common East Asian fable of the rabbit in the moon.
Academic Paper from the year 2018 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: 1, , course: Bachelor of Commerce, language: English, abstract: After the horrible experience of the great financial crisis of 2008, the world has now become more anxious and serious about the existence, contribution, magnitude, significance and risks of the non-banking financial sector (NBFS). The sector was neglected from the beginning either by default or by deliberate choice but now the sector has enhanced attention, monitoring and regulation as a post-crisis lesson. In this context, the raising of boundaries of non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) came up with the risk of evolution of shadow banking. However, the concept of ‘shadow banking’ came into existence in 2007; when Paul McCulley coined the term ‘shadow bank’. Shadow banking includes credit intermediation involving entities (NBFCs) and activities (fully or partially) outside the regulated banking system of any country. In the developing economies like India, shadow banking plays a gainful role in credit delivery and financial inclusion. They play substitute as well as a complementary role for commercial banks as they able to fulfill the needs of borrowers outside the preview of the regulated banking system. However, shadow banking becomes very risky because it operates outside the regulated banking system and financial intermediation activities are undertaken with less transparency and regulation than the conventional banking. Up to certain level, it helps the financial system to grow; but beyond it, may prove dangerous. This paper focuses on the concept of shadow banking and its prevailing structure and effects in India.
The book presents the challenges inherent in the paradigm shift of network systems from static to highly dynamic distributed systems – it proposes solutions that the symbiotic nature of biological systems can provide into altering networking systems to adapt to these changes. The author discuss how biological systems – which have the inherent capabilities of evolving, self-organizing, self-repairing and flourishing with time – are inspiring researchers to take opportunities from the biology domain and map them with the problems faced in network domain. The book revolves around the central idea of bio-inspired systems -- it begins by exploring why biology and computer network research are such a natural match. This is followed by presenting a broad overview of biologically inspired research in network systems -- it is classified by the biological field that inspired each topic and by the area of networking in which that topic lies. Each case elucidates how biological concepts have been most successfully applied in various domains. Nevertheless, it also presents a case study discussing the security aspects of wireless sensor networks and how biological solution stand out in comparison to optimized solutions. Furthermore, it also discusses novel biological solutions for solving problems in diverse engineering domains such as mechanical, electrical, civil, aerospace, energy and agriculture. The readers will not only get proper understanding of the bio inspired systems but also better insight for developing novel bio inspired solutions.

Scientific Study from the year 2014 in the subject Environmental Sciences, grade: 3, Kachchh University (Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences, Department of Chemistry), language: English, abstract: The Gujarat state encompasses an arid area of 62,180 Km2 of which 73% is falling under kachchh district. Kachchh is the one of the largest district in India covering an area of 45, 612 sq.km. And is part of the Kathiawar Peninsula occupying the northwestern part of Gujarat. The major objective of the present study was to analyze the physico-chemical characteristics of soil, to estimate the soil carbon pool as well to conserve the soil organic carbon pool. Major plant species which were noted at the Tapkeshwari hill in the were Salvadora persica, Capparis decidua, Capparis deciduas, Calotropis procera, Tamarix sp., Aeluropus lagopoides, Cressa cretica, Sporobolus spp. and Prosopis cineraria, Acacia nilotica and Acacia Senegal. Different parameters were analyzed for soil samples like alkalinity, total hardness, calcium and magnesium hardness, sulphure, iron, phosphorous, total organic carbon, chloride, sodium, potassium, EC, pH, TDS, and moisture content. The soil sample near P. chilensis species gives higher values in monsoon season in moisture content, pH, phosphate, TOC, SAR, iron, potassium, sodium and chloride, whereas temperature, alkalinity, Total hardness, calcium, magnesium and sulphate gives higher value in winter season. Soil samples of Acacia Senegal gives higher value of TOC in winter season. Prosopis julif- lora shows negligible value in winter season. The value of TOC in decreasing order in all species was Acacia senegal ~ Prosopis cineraria ~ Salvadora persica ~ Acacia nilotica ~ Prosaopis cineraria.
