Due to advances in sensor, storage, and networking technologies, data is being generated on a daily basis at an ever-increasing pace in a wide range of applications, including cloud computing, mobile Internet, and medical imaging. This large multidimensional data requires more efficient dimensionality reduction schemes than the traditional techniques. Addressing this need, multilinear subspace learning (MSL) reduces the dimensionality of big data directly from its natural multidimensional representation, a tensor. Multilinear Subspace Learning: Dimensionality Reduction of Multidimensional Data gives a comprehensive introduction to both theoretical and practical aspects of MSL for the dimensionality reduction of multidimensional data based on tensors. It covers the fundamentals, algorithms, and applications of MSL. Emphasizing essential concepts and system-level perspectives, the authors provide a foundation for solving many of today’s most interesting and challenging problems in big multidimensional data processing. They trace the history of MSL, detail recent advances, and explore future developments and emerging applications. The book follows a unifying MSL framework formulation to systematically derive representative MSL algorithms. It describes various applications of the algorithms, along with their pseudocode. Implementation tips help practitioners in further development, evaluation, and application. The book also provides researchers with useful theoretical information on big multidimensional data in machine learning and pattern recognition. Chinese Women Writers and the Feminist Imagination, 1905-1948 provides a compelling study of leading women writers in modern China, charting their literary works and life journeys to examine the politics and poetics of Chinese transcultural feminism that exceed the boundaries of bourgeois feminist selfhood. Unlike recent literary studies that focus on the discursive formation of the modern Chinese nation state and its gendering effects, Haiping Yan explores the radical degrees to which Chinese women writers re-invented their lives alongside their writings in distinctly conditioned and fundamentally revolutionary ways. The book draws on these women's voluminous works and dramatic lives to illuminate the range of Chinese women's literary and artistic achievements and offers vital sources for exploring the history and legacy of twentieth-century Chinese feminist consciousness and its centrality in the Chinese Revolution. It will be of great interest to scholars of gender studies, literary and cultural studies and performance studies.

The book is the first international reference on the field of smart device recognition and Ubiquitous Electric Internet of Things (UEIOT). It presents a range of state-of-the-art key methods and applications for smart device recognition. In future smart environments, obtaining energy consumption information for identifying every device is an effective approach to guarantee the energy efficiency of smart industrial systems. Such as, the Ubiquitous Electric Internet of Things (UEIOT) technology represents one of the most effective measures for electricity and energy management and has attracted considerable attention from scientists and engineers around the world. The realization of smart device recognition in the UEIOT framework has become the core and basis of UEIOT’s success. The device smart recognition can help governments and managers to distribute energy and power better, and help device manufacturers to improve their products regarding smart energy conservation. Accordingly, in the future smart industry, implementing smart device recognition is desired and very important. In the book, several methods, strategies, and experiments for achieving smart device recognition are presented in details. As the first monograph in the field of smart device recognition, the book can provide beneficial reference for students, engineers, scientists, and managers in the fields of power, energy, electromechanical devices, smart cities, artificial intelligence, etc.
Analysis and Synthesis of Singular Systems provides a base for further theoretical research and a design guide for engineering applications of singular systems. The book presents recent advances in analysis and synthesis problems, including state-feedback control, static output feedback control, filtering, dissipative control, H8 control, reliable control, sliding mode control and fuzzy control for linear singular systems and nonlinear singular systems. Less conservative and fresh novel techniques, combined with the linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique, the slack matrix method, and the reciprocally convex combination approach are applied to singular systems. This book will be of interest to academic researchers, postgraduate and undergraduate students working in control theory and singular systems. Discusses recent advances in analysis and synthesis problems for linear singular systems and nonlinear singular systems Offers a base for further theoretical research as well as a design guide for engineering applications of singular systems Presents several necessary and sufficient conditions for delay-free singular systems and some less conservative results for time-delay singular systems
This book covers complex issues for a vehicle suspension model, including non-linearities and uncertainties in a suspension model, network-induced time delays, and sampled-data model from a theoretical point of view. It includes control design methods such as neural network supervisory, sliding mode variable structure, optimal control, internal-model principle, feedback linearization control, input-to-state stabilization, and so on. Every control method is applied to the simulation for comparison and verification. Features: Includes theoretical derivation, proof, and simulation verification combined with suspension models Provides the vibration control strategies for sampled-data suspension models Focuses on the suspensions with time-delays instead of delay-free Covers all the models related to quarter-, half-, and full-vehicle suspensions Details rigorous mathematical derivation process for each theorem supported by MATLAB®-based simulation This book is aimed at researchers and graduate students in automotive engineering, vehicle vibration, mechatronics, control systems, applied mechanics, and vehicle dynamics.
This book highlights a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental statistical mechanics underneath the inner workings of neural networks. The book discusses in details important concepts and techniques including the cavity method, the mean-field theory, replica techniques, the Nishimori condition, variational methods, the dynamical mean-field theory, unsupervised learning, associative memory models, perceptron models, the chaos theory of recurrent neural networks, and eigen-spectrums of neural networks, walking new learners through the theories and must-have skillsets to understand and use neural networks. The book focuses on quantitative frameworks of neural network models where the underlying mechanisms can be precisely isolated by physics of mathematical beauty and theoretical predictions. It is a good reference for students, researchers, and practitioners in the area of neural networks.
Cai Yuanpei A Musical Written in Chinese by Wang Haiping Translated into English by Ouyang Yu The topic and the theme: The New Culture Movement has a far-reaching impact in the modern history of China. Back then, the New Culture Movement, as the ideological foundation of the May Fourth Movement, played a role in ideological enlightenment and iberation. While the May Fourth Movement became the explicit state and the political form of radical revolution, its hidden state and the movement of comprehensive social forms at a deeper level are continuing, and the cultural modernising movement is also continuing as the shifting spirit and spiritual support of modernisation in China. As China is in the process of change, moving from a xiaokang society to a more affluent society, the central government has offered the challenge of great development and great prosperity that requires us to look back at history and to rethink on an ideological and cultural level. The thinking style, therefore, of Cai Yuanpei in the New Culture Movement is a typical subject.
Advanced Seat Suspension Control System Design for Heavy Duty Vehicles provides systematic knowledge of the advanced seat suspension design and control for heavy duty vehicles. Nowadays, people are paying more and more attention to ride comfort and the health of drivers and passengers. This is especially for heavy duty vehicles, where drivers/operators are exposed to much severer vibrations than those in passenger vehicles due to a harsh working environment, operating conditions, and long hour driving, etc. Seat suspension systems can effectively help to suppress the high magnitude vibration transmitted to drivers with relatively simple structure and low cost, and hence are widely adopted in heavy duty vehicles. This book helps researchers and engineers to have a comprehensive understanding of the seat suspension system and to conduct in-depth studies on seat suspension design and control; this book covers a wide range of perspectives about seat suspension design and control methods. Describes the variable damping, variable stiffness, and, especially, variable inertance seat suspensions Provides the advanced and comprehensive knowledge about semi-active vibration control Introduces the multiple-DOF seat suspension Includes the innovative hybrid seat suspension and nonlinear seat suspension All the introduced designs have been prototyped and experimentally validated Provides Matlab Simulation programming codes
