Canada is home to immigrants from many cultures. Unlike times past, when newcomers from a foreign country seemed to want to blend in with their new culture as soon as possible, more recent immigrants want to become a part of their new home but retain some of the elements of their native cultures. This is a task that is often easier to talk about than to accomplish. History of the Muslims of Regina, Saskatchewan, and Their Organizations: Islamic Association, CCMW and MPJ represents the struggle and success of authors and editors Naiyer Habib and Mahlaqa Naushaba Habib. When they immigrated to Canada in 1973, they wanted to preserve their culture and religion for themselves as well as for future Muslim generations. The Culture in their new home was much different than theirs. It was the time when literature on Islam or Islamic culture was hard to find in English, so it was difficult for their new neighbors to learn about them. Through Islamic organizations begun by the Habibs and others in the Muslim community, whose stories are shared in this book, they introduced Islam and Muslims to Regina, while still holding on to their culture, but integrating with society at large. History of the Muslims of Regina, Saskatchewan, and Their Organizations: Islamic Association, CCMW and MPJ demonstrate it is not always easy to incorporate a familiar culture in a new home. But with hard work and willingness of all cultures involved to learn from each other, it can be done successfully.

The book examines critically issues involve in managing the risk of liquidity management for these types of institutions, including those stemming from Basel requirements. It then offers an alternative regulatory framework more appropriately suited for such banks without compromising safety and security. The book's unique features and innovative dimensions diagnostically differentiate between Islamic banks and conventional banks as related to liquidity management risks. It proposes a risk-sharing regulatory framework that, once implemented, would mitigate risks posed by balance-sheet mismatches. The book aims to assist regulators, supervisors, Islamic finance practitioners, academicians and other relevant stakeholders.

It covers the period from the tenth century to the present. It includes the development of precolonial African societies; Africans during the European mercantile time, focusing on similarities and factors for disparities on advancement; and lives of black people in the New World since they arrived as slaves and their contribution on American civilization and development. European colonialism in the second half of the nineteenth century is another important historical era that shaped Africa. As Europe and America advanced into imperialism and neocolonialism, the developing countries in the southern hemisphere still stood in dilemma. A Revised History for Advanced Level & Colleges: Part One justifies and revises important areas, which had been less mentioned or left out by other authors in writing history texts for high schools and colleges. It is made up with eight chapters. The first is Precolonial Africa, then Africa and Europe by AD 1500 revises the level of development between Africa and Europe. Next is People of African Origin in the New World and the Diaspora. Chapter 4, From Colonialism to the First World War, revises the colonial state; its theories of colonial bureaucracy; character, functions, and implication on Africans; agricultural systems; and the World War I while chapter 5 represents the colonial economy and social services after World War II. Chapter 6, The Influence of External Forces, Rise of Nationalism, and the Struggle for Independence, focuses on external factors for decolonization. The Poincaré plot (named after Henri Poincaré) is a popular two-dimensional visualization tool for dynamic systems due to its intuitive display of the dynamic properties of a system from a time series. This book presents the basis of Poincaré plot and focus especially on traditional and new methods for analysing the geometry, temporal and spatial dynamics disclosed by the Poincaré plot to evaluate heart rate variability (HRV). Mathematical descriptors of Poincaré plot have been developed to quantify the autonomic nervous system activity (sympathetic and parasympathetic modulation of heart rate). Poincaré plot analysis has also been used in various clinical diagnostic settings like diabetes, chronic heart failure, chronic renal failure and sleep apnea syndrome. The primary aims of quantification of the Poincaré plots are to discriminate healthy physiological systems from pathological conditions and to classify the stage of a disease. The HRV analysis by Poincaré plot has opened up ample opportunities for important clinical and research applications. They have included their ancestry reflecting the village life then and how it changed with passing time. They come from very reputable families. Partition of India had a very negative effect on them. They could not settle either in India or in Pakistan. Naiyer Habib family not affected much stayed in India and family of Mahlaqa Naushaba Khanam(Habib) settled in Pakistan, driven as refugee from India in 1947 riots. Their long time earnestly arranged marriage with commitment, even before the partition of India was completed in 1966. They settled in Canada away from their family. They made their contribution to Canada and Canada embraced them as their son and daughter in their words. They set an example of leadership integrating the Muslim community with society at large while maintaining their culture and religion. They describe it as an experience of respect and of acceptance of one another.

Adam Habib, the most prominent and outspoken university official through the recent student protests, takes a characteristically frank view of the past three years on South Africa's campuses in this new book. Habib charts the progress of the student protests that erupted on Wits University campus in late 2015 and raged for the better part of three years, drawing on his own intimate involvement and negotiation with the students, and also records university management and government responses to the events. He critically examines the student movement and individual student leaders who emerged under the banners #feesmustfall and #Rhodesmustfall, and debates how to achieve truly progressive social change in South Africa, on our campuses and off. This book is both an attempt at a historical account and a thoughtful reflection on the issues the protests kicked up, from the perspective not only of a high-ranking member of university management, but also Habib as political scientist with a background as an activist during the struggle against apartheid. Habib moves between reflecting on the events of the last three years on university campuses, and reimagining the future of South African higher education.
