Steven Taylor is an assistant bank manager in a quiet little Mid-West town; his roommate Mark Jenkins is a high school history teacher. Steven's bored with his job; the thought of going through all the accounts that haven't had a single transaction in the past 25 years sounds even more boring - until he discovers one old prospector left $17,000 in October 1870; it's now worth 6.3 million dollars. There's a safe deposit box too, 17C, that's never been opened in all those years. And it would have remained closed if Steven hadn't been browsing through a Denver antique store: as well as a dresser for his sister, he found a new girlfriend, Hannah, the owner's daughter ... and, in a jar of oddments, the long-missing key to Idaho Springs Safety Deposit Box 17C. And without that key, he'd never have found the tapestry that sucked him and Mark into the land of Rona in the strange new world of Eldarn, where they are immediately captured by a group of Ronan resistance fighters. Rona has been occupied by Malakasia for nearly a thousand Twinmoons. Now an evil tyrant rules the land, but he wants more: he wants the key that will open the path for an ancient evil to manifest once and for all. And Steven and Mark need this same key if they are ever to get home to Idaho Springs ...
July 3rd, 2013 Are we alone in this vast universe? Jake and Steven McClain had problems of their own to even consider that question, not even when the answer was an undeniable no, and staring them both in the face. Neither McClain knew of the others existence. Both faced disastrous consequences if they chose the wrong path back from hell. Jake and Steven McClain had more in common than their last names or saving their respective Clans from total and complete annihilation. Steven was born on a planet named Provender a world literally created by the Torill, a flesh eating race from another Galaxy. His descendants were brought to Provender by the Torill to proliferate and multiply into enough live flesh to sustain the Torill when they returned 200 years later to again take on the once mighty Froellian peace keepers of the Milky Way. The Torill were not the immediate problem, saving his Clan from those on Provender who had declared they would defeat and then annihilate Steven and his once mighty Blackwatch Clan was. Jakes home world is Earth, hed lived a sheltered life for most of his 25 years, that is until he discovered that Earth was going to be struck by not one, but two asteroids that could easily destroy the human race. What-ifs are explored in Provender, such as what if we are not alone or what if Earth is struck by an asteroid, and What if two humans with drive and determination, and who share the same ancestors, find each other? What then? Are humans capable, or even worthy of existing at all in the Milky Way Galaxy? Can a fledgling species just beginning its move into space unite the people of other worlds in time to stop the annihilation of an entire Galaxy by a superior force empowered by vengeance and a historical need to eat living sentient flesh? Follow Steven and Jake McClain as they discover that the Universe does not revolve around their respective worlds. That there are many sentient civilized worlds that discovered that fact long before sentient life walked on Earth.
Will prayer and providence bring a family together after years apart? Can it possibly heal the broken connections? Set in the late 1800's in Colorado, Prayer Trilogy is the story of the Jenkins and Davidson families, one nearly starving on their farm and the other a prosperous business family in the city of Denver. Neither family is perfect but both know the power and comfort of prayer that sustains their relationship with God. These stories provide a wonderful reminder that prayer is the key to our intimate relationship to God. The characters are flawed but that only enhances the power and compassion of God in their individual lives to weave a family tapestry and even a larger community picture. These stories will appeal to young and old alike. They are clean reads, based on Christian principles and experience, designed to be read in your family.
Nerak is defeated. Steven Taylor has cast the malevolent dictator's soul into the Fold's inky void - but the evil that controlled Nerak and brutalised the people of Eldarn has escaped, and taken Mark Jenkins with it. As he and his companions make their way across country, rallying what remains of their allies, Mark, no longer the affable teacher from Colorado, disappears into the foothills of the Blackstone Mountains, determined to excavate the Larion spell table and use its awesome power to destroy Eldarn. During an epic sea journey to the enemy strongholds of northern Malakasia, Steven discovers he is stronger than he thought, but a confrontation with Mark is inevitable ... Is Steven willing to kill his best friend and face eternal exile in Eldarn to save two worlds from annihilation? Return to Eldarn for this towering finale, where our heroes face a terrifying army of mutated beasts, and the mysteries of the Larion Senators are waiting to be unlocked, for good or for evil ...
Though nearly a dozen years had passed they hadn’t gotten back to Verdura. They supposed they never would. But life had moved on for Joshua, Marie, Amanda and Steven. For one thing, they were all married with at least one kid; and those kids were almost as old as they had been the first time they were in Verdura. They had lives, though––truth to tell––lives not as exciting as their times in Verdura had been. Sometimes they struggled to find meaning in the mundane after the momentous events in which they had participated. Things had moved on in Verdura, as well. Centuries, in fact. It had become dark. Almost all the time. And very few of the friends they had known as children remained––even though their lives should have been as long as that of their sun. The remaining people were at odds with one another. Tyranny had overcome most of them, madness––so it was said––the rest. Enemies had multiplied and triumphed. And once again, it was the children who were sent to help. Or maybe they were sent mostly to watch. Because, as always, Ispri had everything well in hand. Or did he? The world was breaking up, dissolving before their eyes. There seemed no way to overcome the enemies. There were new enemies they’d never seen, and many of the people were enemies. So how could they explain this buoyancy they felt? This optimism? This expectation? And how did this new person, this little empress of China, so she seemed to think of herself, and her pet dragon, fit into all this? Besides, of course, they’d eventually have to go back to earth. How was that going to work out? Would they get back before Verdura collapsed completely and them with it? This really was their last adventure.
The Larion spell table has been dormant for nearly a thousand Twinmoons. It waits in a forgotten chamber in Sandcliff Palace, the abandoned Larion Senate stronghold on Eldarn's North Sea. The spell table holds the power to see the people of the five lands safely through the oppression and brutality that have haunted them for generations, but without Lessek's key it is a worthless slab of granite - and Lessek's key itself is just a nondescript stone Steven Taylor and Mark Jenkins overlooked on the night they fell through the far portal into Eldarn. Retrieving the key and freeing Eldarn's people rests with Steven Taylor, the would-be sorcerer from Colorado, who is racing across America with Nerak, the fallen Larion dictator, hot on his heels. Steven must reach Idaho Springs and find Lessek's key before it falls into Nerak's hands and is lost for ever - and with it, the lives of untold millions, in both of Steven's worlds.
Kentucky. Now it’s 1838. Steven and Amanda have not been able to get back into Verdura for two years, no matter what they’ve done. They don’t know if promises made there have come true or if something terrible has happened. But things have changed in Kentucky. Amanda’s grown older and her father wants her to marry a young man who’s a cruel bully. Daddy thinks she’ll change him. Huh! She wants nothing to do with him. But her father’s insistent. Plus, Amanda has no idea what’s happened to Joshua and Marie. Letters from them stopped coming some time ago. And then there’s that peculiar ‘amusement’ someone is putting on in downtown Glasgow, Kentucky, a weird phenomenon hyped by a creepy mustachioed tinker who doesn’t have any pots or pans to sell. Join Joshua, Marie, Amanda and Steven in their second Verduran adventure. Yeah. This one could also be fatal. Or worse.
Experts in end-of-life care tell us that we should talk about death and dying with relatives and friends, but how do we get such conversations off the ground in a society that historically has avoided the topic? This book provides one example of such a conversation. The coauthors take up challenging questions about pain, caregiving, grief, and what comes after death. Their unlikely collaboration is itself connected to death: the murders of two of Irene's closest friends and Steve's support in perpetuating memories of those friends' lives and not just their violent ends. The authors share the results of a no-holds-barred discussion they conducted for several years over email. Readers can consider a range of views on complicated issues to which there are no right answers. Letting ourselves pose certain questions has the potential to profoundly change the way we think about death, how we choose to die, and, just as importantly, the way we live. Honest, probing, sensitive, and even humorous at times, the completely open discussions in this book will help readers deal with a topic that most of us try to avoid but that everyone will face eventually.

The recent catastrophe in Atlantic fisheries resource management has important national and international implications that we would ignore at our peril. While Atlantic Canada is the specific focus of the papers in this book, the problems addressed are global. A fundamental reorientation of the economics of fisheries management is needed in which far greater prominence is given to the role of uncertainty.
