Each of the Ten Commandments can be a difficult challenge for a child (or adult for that matter) to understand and apply. I have written down stories from my upbringing that illustrate in simple ways God's truths for children of various ages. As parent, grandparent, or teacher, I invite you to read each story with a child and discuss its meaning and application. Enjoy the discussion and relationship as a child learns from you about the important ways of God.
Have You Ever Wondered... That if our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, how the details about the Old Testament Temple apply to us? How to scripturally prove that the throne of God is in the heart of man? What the incense in the Temple symbolized? How the King of kings can be seated upon His throne in our hearts? How a lamb could be used to atone for the sins of the world when the yearly atonement for the sins of the nation of Israel only mention a bullock and a goat? What the contents of the Ark of the Covenant were and how they relate to us? What the extra vessel of oil is, that five of the ten virgins had and how to get it? What the Great White Throne is? How that, without contradiction, ALL judgment is given to Jesus Christ, and at the same time the saints will judge the earth and even angels? How that we should "judge not" and at the same time that we should "judge righteous judgment?" If God truly looks ONLY upon the heart? What the Seven Thunders of Revelations Chapter 10 are? What defines and distinguishes between legalism, religiosity, and true holiness? How our entire being can be as completely filled with the glori¬ous presence of God as the Tabernacle was? This book scripturally answers all of these questions and more...much more. When God brings the fullness of His Word into man¬ifestation in a glorious church without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, it will be the fullness of the Word of God being made manifest; and it will not fulfill any extra-biblical tradition. Because it is God putting on display the culture of heaven in a manifestation of the One New "Adam.

This collection, first published in 1992, offers critical-interpretive essays on various aspects of the work of Joseph Campbell (1904-1987), one of a very few international experts on myth. Joseph Campbell examines myths and mythologies from a comparative point of view, and he stresses those similarities among myths the world over as they suggest an existing, transcendent unity of all humankind. His interpretations foster an openness, even a generous appreciation of, all myths; and he attempts to generate a broad, sympathetic understanding of the role of these ‘stories’ in human history, in our present-day lives, and in the possibilities of our future.
This chronological collection charts the change in attitudes to witchcraft during the period 1560-1736, which culminates in the educated debate on the reality of witchcraft and the gradual decline in belief in witches and associated phenomena.

Bob Thompson (1937-1966) was a figurative expressionist painter active in literary, musical, and artistic circles in New York and Europe from the late 1950s until his death in 1966. In the first book devoted solely to Thompson, the life and work of this pivotal figure in modern American art history and African American culture receive the attention they deserve. Judith Wilson situates Bob Thompson within the context of both contemporary artistic production and cultural trends of the fifties and sixties. She uses interviews, Thompson's diary entries and letters to his family, and his work to give a thoughtful and thorough interpretation of his art and persona. She traces Thompson's development--psychologically, socially, and artistically--effectively portraying his first encounters with art and bohemian culture and his intensely active period in Europe shortly before his death in Rome at the age of 29. Bob Thompson's life intersects several important currents in recent American culture, and his work reveals an unfinished quest for communal identity, says Wilson. His use of postmodern techniques of appropriation and pastiche embraced both the Western tradition and cultural resources specific to the African American experience. The publication of Bob Thompson recognizes the important role of the artist in the vanguard of twentieth-century American art. In Search of Lost Time (French: À la recherche du temps perdu)— previously also translated as Remembrance of Things Past, is a novel in seven volumes, written by Marcel Proust (1871–1922). It is considered to be his most prominent work, known both for its length and its theme of involuntary memory, the most famous example being the "episode of the madeleine" which occurs early in the first volume. It gained fame in English in translations by C. K. Scott Moncrieff and Terence Kilmartin as Remembrance of Things Past, but the title In Search of Lost Time, a literal rendering of the French, has gained usage since D. J. Enright adopted it for his revised translation published in 1992. The novel began to take shape in 1909. Proust continued to work on it until his final illness in the autumn of 1922 forced him to break off. Proust established the structure early on, but even after volumes were initially finished he kept adding new material and edited one volume after another for publication. The last three of the seven volumes contain oversights and fragmentary or unpolished passages, as they existed only in draft form at the death of the author; the publication of these parts was overseen by his brother Robert.
PASSPORT TO HELL Buffy, Oz, and Angel are Europe-bound, only they're not flying any airlines. They're traveling limbo's "ghost roads" in search of Jacques Regnier. Jacques is the sole heir of the dying Gatekeeper whose Boston mansion is the supernatural barrier restraining thousands of the world's monsters. The evil Sons of Entropy will do anything to destroy the gate -- even if it means trading the power-laden Spear of Longinus to the wicked vampires holding Jacques. Back home, the ghost ship Flying Dutchman has set sail for Sunnydale, determined to shanghai new crewmen -- dead or alive. For Willow, Xander, Cordelia, and Giles, it's an ocean of trouble, especially when the monstrous Kraken reemerges with a vengeance. But everyone's assistance will be needed once Buffy locates Jacques, and uncovers the shocking plans the Sons of Entropy have already placed in motion -- a plan that, if successful, will destroy the world and create a horrible new realm ruled by monsters.

When a once-shy pair of homely twins begin to parade around Sunnydale High like divas, Buffy and the others decide to investigate. But soon it becomes apparent that the price of admission is higher than they imagined. Willow is consumed by envy, Cordelia by greed, and Xander by gluttony. Angel reveals a dangerous new persona, while dark anger rises in Giles. More powerful still is the blinding pride that threatens to overwhelm Buffy and destroy all those she loves... An ancient curse imprisoned the spirits of these two warriors in an antique sword; until the sword arrives in Sunnydale. On the verge of failing her junior year thanks to the annoying Principal Snyder, who seems to be acting even stranger than usual lately, Buffy agrees to meet with a tutor… one who may not have her best interests in mind. Fighting off exhaustion, Buffy learns that Principal Snyder is the target of a sleep deprivation spell that has taken over Sunnydale. As sleep takes hold of the citizens of Sunnydale, Buffy begins to realize that unless she breaks the spell soon, the nightmare is just beginning.

In her long-awaited fifth novel, acclaimed writer Marita Golden takes another unflinching look into the face of family, race, love and identity. For twelve years Carson Blake inhabited a world of his own creation. Scorned by the father who was incapable of showing him affection and nearly consumed by the mean streets of Prince George’s County, Maryland, Carson did what no one else could: he saved himself. After joining the police force and building a family with his wife, Bunny, Carson is finally in control of his life in the enclave where African American wealth and privilege shares the same zip code with black American crime and tragedy. Both Carson and his wife have great careers and three beautiful children: Roslyn, Roseanne, and Juwan. Carson is a devoted father, determined not to be the father that Jimmy Blake was to him. But while Juwan’s astounding artistic talent is his father’s pride, the boy’s close relationship with classmate Will conjures up emotions and questions in Carson that threaten to spill over and poison the entire Blake family. And then, one night in March, nearing the end of a routine shift, Carson stops a young black man for speeding. He orders Paul Houston to exit the car and drop to his knees. But when Houston retrieves something from his waistband and turns to face Carson, three shots are fired, one man loses his life and two families are wrenched from everything that came before and hurled into the haunting future of everything that will come after. When it is revealed that Paul, a son of educators and a teacher in Southeast D.C., was only holding a cell phone, Carson’s carefully woven world begins to unravel. After is a penetrating work of discovery for a man whose life careens more than once off the edge of disaster. Golden’s astounding prose will stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page.
Anna Held (1870?-1918), a petite woman with an hourglass figure, was America's most popular musical comedy star during the two decades preceding World War I. In the colorful world of New York theater during La Belle Époque, she epitomized everything that was glamorous, sophisticated, and suggestive about turn-of-the-century Broadway. Overcoming an impoverished life as an orphan to become a music-hall star in Paris, Held rocketed to fame in America. From 1896 to 1910, she starred in hit after hit and quickly replaced Lillian Russell as the darling of the theatrical world. The first wife of legendary producer Florenz Ziegfeld Jr., Held was the brains and inspiration behind his Follies and shared his knack for publicity. Together, they brought the Paris scene to New York, complete with lavish costumes and sets and a chorus of stunningly beautiful women, dubbed ""The Anna Held Girls."" While Held was known for a champagne giggle as well as for her million-dollar bank account, there was a darker side to her life. She concealed her Jewish background and her daughter from a previous marriage. She suffered through her two husbands' gambling problems and Ziegfeld's blatant affairs with showgirls. With the outbreak of fighting in Europe, Held returned to France to support the war effort. She entertained troops and delivered medical supplies, and she was once briefly captured by the German army. Anna Held and the Birth of Ziegfeld's Broadway reveals one of the most remarkable women in the history of theatrical entertainment. With access to previously unseen family records and photographs, Eve Golden has uncovered the details of an extraordinary woman in the vibrant world of 1900s New York.

Andersen's popularity is not limited to children; his stories—called eventyrs, or "fantastic tales"—express themes that transcend age and nationality. During his lifetime he was acclaimed for having delighted children worldwide and was feted by royalty. Andersen's fairy tales, which have been translated into more than 125 languages, have become culturally embedded in the West's collective consciousness, readily accessible to children, but presenting lessons of virtue and resilience in the face of adversity for mature readers as well. They have inspired motion pictures, plays, ballets, and animated films.

To the world an underdog, this developing, spiritual woman overcomes extremely unjust occurrences that plague her widowhood. Upon reading this novel, may widows everywhere know that they are still unequivocally loved. May everyone joyfully learn to color everything with love and may everyone always yearn to help others. Recently experiencing a ventricular-tachycardia episode, this author is convinced that she survived the usually fatal occurrence in order to bring Fibica to the world. The author wants the character, Fibica, to be the main focus so the novel is penned under the pseudonym Golden Eight. There are a myriad of reasons for the chosen name. Having graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Indiana University with a Psychology/Spanish double major, the author's fifteen plus years of insurance employment from Corporate Trainee to Senior Production Underwriter has given her valuable knowledge in writing Fibica. Her K through 12 teaching and CYO volleyball coaching experience has given her incite into the hearts and minds of students and parents. After celebrating her silver wedding anniversary, she unexpectedly became a widow. Now widowed for three years and a single mother of two teenagers, Golden Eight feels the heroine's plight and wants to help other widows understand that they are still unequivocally loved.
