In 1531, the mother of our Lord, Jesus Christ, appeared to a poor pheasant, Juan Diego, now a saint, near the village of Tepayac, Mexico, where the current Mexico City is located. She became known to the Mexican people as Our Lady of Guadalupe and through the miracle of her appearances a great devotion to her was begun. In the early part of the 20th century, immigrants from the northern provinces of Mexico came to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and brought with them their great devotion to the Virgin of Guadalupe. They began a grand celebration in the Albuquerque Barrio of Williams which will be celebrating its 100 anniversary in 2024. This book documents the history of this wonderful Fiesta of our Lady of Guadalupe and stands as a remembrance to all the families who participated over the last century.
