Gloria’s life and realities over shadowed emotions and beliefs. Never understanding purpose in life caused entrapment and devastation. She endeavored to advance in areas that she considered an improvement and quality of life. She went into negative situations denying the facts. Gloria wanted good and evil to blend. There was no mistake about her behavior. Her actions testifi ed to what did or did not exist in her. The desires in her had to be satisfi ed. Those impulses could not come together equally in agreement, each one served its own purpose. One inclination was good and prosperous; the other was bad and destructive. The repercussions in life made her aware of choices she made which were either good or bad. Becoming consumed by evil surroundings Gloria desperately needed an escape. She found it and her life totally changed. The acquaintances, desires, habits, emotions, and lifestyle became different than ever imagined. Negative thoughts accusations that change could not occur were found to be misleading. Thoughts of Gloria never being able to change her surroundings were misleading. Thoughts of everybody being the same and no way out were misleading. Thoughts that people who hated her cared for her were misleading. Thoughts that she could not succeed without the company she kept were misleading. Choices are revealed In The Test of Time!

The food industry has seen many changes over the last several decades — new technologies have been introduced into the way we cook, manufacture, and present food products to consumers. Digital gastronomy, which combines new computational abilities such as three-dimensional (3D) printing with traditional food preparation, has allowed consumers to design and manufacture food with personalized shapes, colours, textures, and even nutrition. In addition to the personalization of food, 3D printing of food has other advantages such as promoting automation in food preparation and food sustainability through 3D-printed cell-based meats and alternative proteins. Entire meals can be constructed just by 3D food printing alone. In this textbook, the background, principles, commercial food printers, materials, regulations, business development, as well as the emerging technologies and future outlook of 3D food printing are explored. In terms of 3D-printed materials, four main classes are reviewed: namely, desserts / snacks (comprising dairy products, chocolate, sugars, and dough), fruits / vegetables, meats /alternative proteins, and pharmaceuticals / nutraceuticals. This textbook has been written to offer readers keen to learn more about 3D food printing in terms of concepts, processes, applications, and developments of 3D food printing. No prior knowledge is required. At the end of each chapter, a set of problems offers undergraduate and postgraduate students practice on the main ideas discussed within the chapter. Tissue Culture Technique, Second Edition, provides an introduction to tissue culture techniques. An attempt has been made to reduce all equipment and procedure to their simplest forms without omitting steps necessary to ensure successful cultures. Sufficient detail is given to enable acquisition of the essentials of the techniques and avoidance of the many pitfalls which may be encountered by beginners, and may sometimes beset those more experienced. The first few chapters of this book are devoted to the choice and organization of the laboratory rooms and their equipment, including glassware, instruments, etc. Attention is also given to methods of preparation of supplies for use in the various techniques. The succeeding chapters describe the preparation of the culture media and the tissues, as well as the preparation of the cultures in various ways. Also discussed are the types of cells one may expect to see growing from a given tissue, methods of recording their behavior and measuring their growth, as well as their significance in the interpretation of experimental results. The last chapters treat methods of applying micrurgical, histological, and photomicrographic techniques to tissue cultures. It is hoped that the carefully considered data presented in this book, and the many details which are the result of long experience, may be of real service to the prospective worker.

Chinese Subjectivities and the Beijing Olympics develops the Foucauldian concept of productive power through examining the ways in which the Chinese government tried to mobilize the population to embrace its Olympic project through deploying various sets of strategies and tactics. It argues that the multifaceted strategies, tactics, and discourses deployed by the Chinese authorities sustain an order of things and values in such a way that drive individuals to commit themselves actively to the goals of the party-state. The book examines how these processes of subjectification are achieved by zooming in on five specific groups of the population: athletes, young Olympic volunteers, taxi drivers, Chinese citizens targeted by place-making projects, and the Hong Kong population. In doing so it probes critically into the role of individuals and how they take on the governmental ideas to become responsible autonomous subjects.
Odious Caribbean Women and the Palpable Aesthetics of Transgression examines the methods through which the works of French Caribbean women resist hedonistic conceptions of pleasure, “art for art’s sake” aestheticism, and commodification through representations of “uglified” spaces, transgressive “deglamorified” women’s bodies in pain and explicit corporeal and sexual behaviors. Gladys M. Francis offers an original approach through her reading together of the literary, visual, and performing arts (as well as traditional Caribbean dance, music, and oral practices) to arrive at a transregional (trans-Caribbean and transatlantic), trans-genre (with regard to forms of text), and transdisciplinary conversation in Francophone studies, postcolonial studies, and cultural studies. This interweaving is illustrated through the artistic engagements of artists such as Ina Césaire, Maryse Condé, Sylvaine Dampierre, Fabienne Kanor, Lénablou, Béatrice Mélina, Gisèle Pineau, Simone Schwarz-Bart, and Miriam Warner-Vieyra. How can we investigate, theoretically or critically, the aesthetically unpleasing found in depictions of odious female protagonists or female performers? What is the aesthetic value of transgressional women’s bodies? This book presents novel tools to understand how these women artists mark and re-instate embodied trauma, survival, and resistance into history. It posits that cultural performances can disrupt a culture-as-text ethnocentrism, for, these works provide the means to expose the tangible aesthetics through which the body becomes an archive that bears the psychological, physical and structural suffering. This project also demonstrates the ways through which the corporeal realm offered by these transgressive works (through explicit female perspectives on sex, love, and gender) challenges our moral sensibilities, works to sabotage the voyeuristic gaze, and stimulates a new methodology for reading the women’s body. It focuses on the complex layers of identity formation and bodily representations with respect to issues of sex, consumerism, commodification, violence, gender and women studies, and ethics and moral issues.

This was the first book to put the American federal income tax into its historical and political context. Acclaimed upon publication as a necessary supplement to the work of Seligman and Seidman, it is still an essential work. Erwin R. Griswald was among the first to recognize this book's value. In the Harvard Law Review he wrote "[t]here is very little in this book that will help a lawyer win a case...[y]et there is much of practical value, a clear picture of the forest which might otherwise escape the lawyer bent on dissecting the trees." He predicted correctly that "[t]here is a mass of fact and comment that will make the book a standard work of reference for many a year to come" (53:1218).
Woman Alone is a vision and dream of mine out of experiences of feeling alone within my marriage. It tells of both my personal struggles in my marriage and my attempt to help women and men to understand their completion of each other through their spiritual growth from wisdom found in the Holy Bible. There is a deep hurt and a deep longing in our hearts. When we feel alone - that hurt can only be fixed by God Himself. There are Bible Scriptures to help us to be healed and feel His love. There are scripture answers to all relationship questions. I believe that reading and studying the bible will bring total family victory. We can overcome the issues of life and come up to a greater family unit. I believe that through the plan of God we can develop an unconditional love for each other and be happy and stay in the marriage for a life time. -Gladys L. Jackson
No one embodied American fundamentalism more fully - its militancy, its separatism, its insistence on doctrinal precision - than Carl McIntire. Add to that his puckish humor and his inventive knack for publicity and you have one of the most riveting figures in all of American religious history." Randall Balmer, Barnard College, Columbia University "I shall never forget his prayers - to me it was as if we were lifted into the presence of God. When he read Scripture, it was almost to have the Bible explain itself, interpret itself. He read it in such a way that its meaning unfolded to your understanding. I once saw a movie of a flower opening by slow motion photography. The petals of the flower opened right before your eyes. When Dr. McIntire preached, it was like that. The meaning of the passage blossomed before your eyes. You understood what the Bible was saying; you loved what it was saying. When he preached, the clock lost its hands. He preached with passion, with power, with love and reverence for the Scripture, he preached with clarity.... It was as if his lips had been touched with a coal of fire off the altar." Rev. Robert Anderson, who served for 38 years as pastor of the Tacoma Bible Presbyterian Church CARL McINTIRE led the 20th Century Reformation Movement in defense of the historic Christian faith and freedom. He was best known for his radio program, the 20th Century Reformation Hour; his battle against the Fairness Doctrine of the Federal Communications Commission; his newspaper, the Christian Beacon; his Bible conferences in Cape May, NJ, and Cape Canaveral, FL; for preserving The Independent Board for Presbyterian Foreign Missions; his presidency of the International Council of Christian Churches for over 50 years; his pastorate of the Bible Presbyterian Church of Collingswood, NJ, for 65 years; and for his lifelong work of alerting the American people to the dangers of Communism and false religion in the churches and of compromise among Bible believers.
Mark Twain has been the subject of violent disagreement among critics. Most of them have believed that he was an “unconscious artist,” working by impulse. Mark Twain as a Literary Artist shows that Mark Twain was much more the conscious craftsman than is generally believed. Here is revealed Twain’s violent mental conflict, a logical dilemma, which forced much of his work into distorted patterns of thought and structure. Through years of practice he evolved methods to achieve detachment through techniques such as speaking through the lips of Huckleberry Finn or some other childlike person; placing satiric scenes far off in time or space; diminishing the human race to microscopic proportions so that its wrongs could be treated with detachment; and reducing life to a dream in which the greatest wrongs become tolerable because they seem unreal. Mark Twain as a Literary Artist is a mature, thorough, and revealing reassessment of the mind and methods of one of the most controversial figures in American literature.
Recipient of a Christianity Today 1993 Critics Choice Award! Over the last fifty years God has used InterVarsity Christian Fellowship to shape the lives of thousands of students. This fascinating chronicle begins with the early influences that shaped university witness since its founding. Eventually these influences coalesced to form InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in the United States fifty years ago. From those early beginnings with only a few staff covering the whole country and a world war breaking out, the work grew and flourished beyond human expectation. From the Urbana conventions to a new approach to Christian witness called friendship evangelism to in-depth inductive study of the Bible, InterVarsity was constantly innovating and growing. From work among nurses to promotion of missions to creative use of media, InterVarsity became a multifaceted ministry. The setbacks that are part of any human endeavor are found in this book too. But here is a story of what God did through a handful of people with a big idea.
