The poems of The thin red line account for a state of broken perception after my own personal beliefs tumbled, turning the path that I walked into one of virtual reality. The fragility of this condition is equal to the uncertainty of walking over a thin layer of ice, not knowing if our steps will support us safely. This borderline experience enabled me to visualize a negative world, a point of darkness that is like situating oneself on scaffolding, bordering the limits of the building where language and reality converge.

This book analyses the complex phenomenon of secession as a form of creation of States from the perspective of international law. As opposed to other approaches based on the analysis of the political foundation of the secessionist processes or on the construction of a legal basis that justifies the existing practice, the aim is to provide an explanation of secession as a practice covered neither by the legal regime of the United Nations for the self-determination of colonial peoples nor by the regulations and guidelines relating to the human rights of minorities and indigenous populations, both in the UN and in regional organisations (Organization of American States, Council of Europe or African Union). It is stated that secession is a practice that does not comply with international peremptory norms – such as those that prohibit going against the territorial integrity of the States, the use of force or intervention in the internal affairs of other States. Even being aware of the inevitable consequences of the effective creation of States and other de facto entities on trade relations, communications and the rights of individuals, among other matters, secession is a practice that should lead to an obligation of nonrecognition by States and by international organisations. As an example of this practice, the secessionist process in Catalonia since 2014 is explained and studied.

Immigration is a major component of population change for countries across Europe. However, questions remain about where immigrants go after they arrive in a new country. What are the patterns of internal migration of minorities (immigrants and their descendants), and what are the causes and implications of these flows? Migration within a nation state is a powerful force, redistributing the population and altering the demographic, social and economic composition of regions, cities and neighbourhoods. Yet relatively little is known about the significance of ethnicity in migration processes, or how population movement contributes to immigrant and ethnic integration. Minority internal migration is an emerging field of academic interest in many European countries in the context of high levels of immigration and increased political interest in inter-ethnic relations and place-based policies. This book brings together experts in the fields of migration, ethnicity and diversity from across Europe to examine patterns of residential mobility of minorities, and to synthesise key themes, theories and methods. The analyses presented make important contributions to theories of migration and minority integration and may inform policies that aim to respond to local population change and increasing diversity. The book that you are about to read are actual events that happen in my life. Only the names of the people have been changed. When I was growing up as a girl, I had dreams of getting a good job and marring a wonderful man and raising a family. And live the fairy tale of living happily ever after. But my life did not take that route.. Instead, I had a whirlwind of marriages gone wrong. Some women, especially single women would ask me what I did to get all those men to marry me. My responds to them was nothing. I met my true love when I was going through a terrible divorce from my second husband. I met Leroy when I was in a difficult situation. My ex-husband played around on me and committed adultery. That is why I filed for divorce. And the bad thing about the whole ordeal is that he really did not love me and he did not want anybody else to love me either. I was just too blind at the time to see. What really made matters worst is, I was still very much in love with my ex-husband. Even though I had filed for a divorce. To make a long story short it ended up breaking Leroy's heart. Therefore, I ended up marring my ex-husband a second time. And that marriage was an even bigger mistake than before. The marriage did not last over two months. But it left a big scare in my life. That is when I went into a whirlwind of marriages that followed. I did not see Leroy until thirteen years later. Leroy went on with his life and married a woman and moved to San Diego, Ca. to start their new life together.

First I find out that my boyfriend is cheating on me. Then he’s pegged as the #1 suspect in a murder. And now he’s depending on me to clear his name. Seriously? As much as I wouldn’t mind watching him squirm, I know that he’s innocent. So I’m brushing off my previously untapped detective skills and getting down to business. But I keep tripping over dead bodies and I’m still no closer to figuring out who did it. And what’s worse: all signs seem to point to me as the killer’s next victim. I really need to pick a better boyfriend next time.
