Johann Gottlob Friedrich Wieck (1785-1873) was a noted German piano and singing teacher. He was born in Pretzsch and died in Loschwitz. He was the father of Clara Wieck Schumann, one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era, as well as a composer. Besides his daughter, other famous pupils included Hans von Blow and Robert Schumann. Schumann and Clara Wieck were married against Friedrich Wieck's will. He founded a piano factory and music lending library in Leipzig, and was the author of Klavier und Gesang (Piano and Song) (1853).
