Wind Turbines addresses all those professionally involved in research, development, manufacture and operation of wind turbines. It provides a cross-disciplinary overview of modern wind turbine technology and an orientation in the associated technical, economic and environmental fields. It is based on the author's experience gained over decades designing wind energy converters with a major industrial manufacturer and, more recently, in technical consulting and in the planning of large wind park installations, with special attention to economics. The second edition accounts for the emerging concerns over increasing numbers of installed wind turbines. In particular, an important new chapter has been added which deals with offshore wind utilisation. All advanced chapters have been extensively revised and in some cases considerably extended

Erich von Däniken, whose books have enthralled millions of readers around the world, now presents astonishing new confirmation for his revolutionary theories. Erich von Däniken's The Gold of the Gods unveils new evidence of an intergalactic "battle of the gods" whose losers retreated to, and settled, Earth. He explores a vast, mysterious underworld of Ecuador---caves filled with gold and writings in solid gold that go back to the time of the Great Flood, bolstering von Däniken's theory of a prehistoric earthly "era of the gods.

This book is intended as a characterological history of the Germans, German history viewed as the formation of the German character. It suggests some reasons why the term capitalism can be properly applied only to commercial development in Germany.
We certainly need in English a book devoted to Plautus alone and here we have it.' Phoenix This reissue of virtually the only book in English devoted to the work of the Roman comedy writer Plautus (c. 254-184 BC) includes a new preface and additional appendices covering the plays Amphitryon and Captivi.
In both the present volume of Advances in Nuclear Physics and in the next volume, which will follow in a few months' time, we have stretched our normal pattern of reviews by including articles of more major proportions than any we have published before. As a result we have only three review articles in Volume 5. From the beginning of this series it has been our aim, as editors, to achieve variation in the scope, style, and length of individual articles sufficient to match the needs of the individual topic, rather than to restrain authors within rigid limits. It has not been our experience that this flexibility has led to unnecessary exuberance on the part of the authors. We feel that the major articles now entering the series are entirely justified. The article by Professor Delves on "Variational Techniques in the Nuclear Three-Body Problem" is an authoritative, definitive article on a subject which forms a cornerstone of nuclear physics. If we start with two body interactions, then the three-nucleon system is, perhaps, the only many nucleon system whose exact description may lie within the scope of human ingenuity. In recent years some new techniques of scattering theory, origi nating mostly in particle physics, have led to a great deal of new interest in the nuclear three-body problem. In this series we have had two articles (by Mitra and by Duck) on the new approaches.
When the provincial government learns of the weather tower, it takes steps to appropriate if for the state and establish a weather bureau to run it. The results - incessantly "beautiful" sunny weather, without rain - are disastrous for the farm economy. Moreover, the government's bullying tactics as it seizes the weather tower harm the farmers' sense of dignity as well. In the end, facing economic ruin, the farmers overcome their meekness and recapture the tower.
Unquestionably the best value in a pocket-sized dictionary for students, Klett's Super-Mini is more complete and more readable than comparable dictionaries.
