“Psalms of Bliss” is a journey, a walk through the lives of the author’s ancestors before him. The Author, Edwin A. Hill believes that by looking back, there is often revelation for life today. He states that “....the lives and life experiences of our ancestors have shaped much of who we are and who we can be, if we choose to understand the roads they have trodden”. He is saddened for our youth today, who have little knowledge of the beliefs held by their ancestors as role models. The book draws us to the author’s ancestors that trace back for over 100 years. Love from God offers access to a life in heaven as key to the “Bliss”, the joy shared generation to generation. Psalms of Bliss affirms the blessings waiting for all of our lives as we receive God’s gift of new life in our hearts. “New life” that many of our ancestors embraced. In stories, psalms and poems, he invites us into his heart to choose to join him in praises to God. Hill’s chapters and psalms are full of compassion, joy, faith, fears and even “Bliss” resulting from God’s blessings upon this family. Psalms of Bliss encourages us to rejoice with family and others from gracious hearts standing strong in the favor of God.

A travelogue with a personal touch relating day to day experiences of the author in essay form. The author tells of adventures in Mongolia and Siberia with smugglers on the train, visits nomads in the Gobi, Lake Baikal in Siberia, the Great Wall of China, and Forbidden City. He visits the Irish and backpacks in Tuscany; cruises across the Atlantic to visit England; explores the regions of France; and satisfies his curiosity about the Lapland provinces of Finland, Norway, and Sweden. In the developing countries of southeastern Europe, he sees Gypies, horse-drawn carts alongside automobiles, and Vlad's Castle in Transylvania; takes in the beautiful scenery of the Dalmatian Coast; visits Bosnia, with its bullet holes in buildings. "Between latitudes" from the top of Europe and the Arctic Circle to the bottom of South America, he visits the Chilean fjords and sails around Cape Horn and hikes along Iguazu Falls.
This book is dedicated to my Mother Mae Frances Bliss Hill and my Grandmother before her, Augusta Bliss. They have both been lamps unto my feet over the course of my life. They embodied the GRACE, GUTS ad GLORY required of them as both daughters and mothers. These "Women of God" have stood in the gaps all around me year after year, decade after decade. Their "walk" and example has been sheet music for my journey through every phase of my life. These women are my Angels and heroines. They are my Spiritual role models and songstresses for life. May God bless you both, in heaven. I also dedicate this book to my Sister Denise: A "songbird" in my life and a saving grace in my battle with cancer. A caring and loving soul she has been to her nine (9) children, her husband and me. May God bless you over and over as he leads you into the future he has created for you. I dedicate this book to my wife Brenda, to Garon, Marq, Devin and Derek, to Edenn and Nicole and each of their wives, husbands, daughters and sons. I love you all very deeply and I thank you for ..."MY STORIES and PSALMS"....the songs that you have placed in my heart. Finally, to my former co-workers, friends, extended family and fellow believers toward a higher purpose. Thank you for sharing your life, time, energy, thoughts and prayers with me.
The definitive social history of the Disciples of Christ in the 19th century. The Disciples of Christ, led by reformers such as Alexander Campbell and Barton W. Stone, was one of a number of early-19th-century primitivist religious movements seeking to "restore the ancient order of things." The Disciples movement was little more than a loose collection of independent congregations until the middle of the 19th century, but by 1900 three clear groupings of churches had appeared. Today, more than 5 million Americans—members of the modern-day Disciples of Christ (Christian Church), Independent Christian Churches, and Churches of Christ, among others—trace their religious heritage to this "Restoration Movement.
