This book is about an inmates life inside the Department of Corrections. I venture through two county jails, two state prisons, and a work release center. It addresses why individuals are sentenced to prison instead of alternative sentencing and discusses their opportunity to be productive while incarcerated. It reveals the day-to-day trials and tribulations of inmates and their families. This story was written to make people realize that the selfish decisions they make affect their families and others in their daily life.
The pastor of Atlanta’s New Birth Missionary Baptist Church will show you how to live a life of God-filled greatness and experience success—spiritually, personally, and financially. Captured in these pages is his wisdom on how to be everything that God wants us to become. And it can begin in 60 seconds. Every minute of your life can bring you one step closer to God, who promises great things. Bishop Long challenges you to prepare for the coming of these promises. Pray for and expect prosperity—and, with his Strategic Life Plan, you can create a blueprint for success in every area of life: work, family, finances, and self-fulfillment. And the greatest gift of all: the realization of God’s plan for your life. Full of 60-second exercises, quizzes, and affirmations, Bishop Long’s breakthrough book will challenge everything you thought you knew about transforming your life. Long shows how to take cues from inspirational Biblical figures—from the prophet Nehemiah’s right mindset to Joseph’s work ethic. And just as Jacob and Esther did, you too can move from mediocrity to magnificence in God’s eyes. Now you can make the most of your minutes, by being everything God wants you to be. And you can start your journey to greatness in 60 seconds. “Bishop Eddie Long is a leader who can help you transform your life. From the chef/restaurateur of a Bon Appétit “Top American Restaurant,” southern fare with a Mexican flair that is “thrifty, practical and delicious” (New York Times). USA Today called Taqueria del Sol “a runaway success.” Bon Appétit wrote: “Move over, Chipotle!” The fast-casual food of Eddie Hernandez, the James Beard-nominated chef/co-owner of the restaurant, lands on the commonalities of Southern and Mexican food, with dishes like Memphis barbecue pork tacos, chicken pot pie served in a “bowl” of a puffed tortilla, turnip greens in “pot likker” spiked with chiles, or the “Eddie Palmer,” sweet tea with a jab of tequila. Eddie never hesitates to break with purists to make food taste better, adding sugar to creamy grits to balance the jalapeños, or substituting tomatillos in fried green tomatoes for a more delicate texture. Throughout, “Eddie’s Way” sidebars show how to make each dish even more special. “Eddie Hernandez cooks my type of food—honest, thrifty, and full of flavor—using fresh, inexpensive, and ordinary ingredients.” —Jacques Pépin “In our world, Eddie is a culinary innovator as inspiring as Thomas Keller, René Redzepi, or Madhur Jaffrey.” —Matt Lee and Ted Lee, authors, The Lee Bros. Charleston Kitchen “From refried black-eyed peas to chicken–green chile potpies in puffy tortilla shells, Turnip Greens & Tortillas showcases honest and joyous cooking from the modern South.” —John T. Edge, author, The Potlikker Papers: A Food History of the Modern South “This book resonates with recipes that glorify home cooking from the South as well as Mexico and melds them together in a deliciously satisfying way.” —Nathalie Dupree, author, Mastering the Art of Southern Cooking
Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2013 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, Universidad de Oriente in Santiago de Cuba, language: English, abstract: The ability to influence and persuade others at work has become an increasingly important managerial skill to achieve work goals and objectives to drive businesses forward in today’s demanding and competitive work environments. This paper investigates and provides a deeper understanding of what positive effects knowledge and application of the concepts of influencing amd persuasion can have on managers, the people they manage and the organisations they work for. The results show that the performance of managers is positively influenced by how they influence and persuade people at work. The outcome of a literature review suggests that there is no conclusive evidence of what makes an effective manager at work that is good at influencing and persuading others. Outputs from face to face and a focus group meeting with final year social psychology students from the Universidad de Oriene in Santiago de Cuba closed this gap by suggesting an effective influencing and persuasion skills set that, when applied appropriately, could guide managers how to influence and persuade others successfully. The outcome of this research is applicable and relevant to managers in any working environment such as Telecommuncations, Utilities, Banking or Automotive. The proposed skills set of what makes an effective influencing and persuading manager at work can be applied globally although the prevailing cultural diversities in different countries should be considered.
