The large family of Charles and Eliza Lutterloh of Chatham County survived that war and settled across North Carolina and elsewhere. Their family members included Thomas Lutterloh (First Municipal Mayor of Fayetteville; Owner of the Lutterloh Steamboat Line and Local Turpentine Pioneer) * Herbert Lutterloh (Poultry Industry Pioneer) * Charles Lutterloh II (Landscaping and Gardening Pioneer of Fayetteville) * Grandson Charles Buxton Rogers (Florida’s Largest Wholesale Grocer) * and Son-In-Law Esley Hunt (Accomplished Studio Photographer of Chapel Hill and Raleigh). Charles' uncle was Henry Emanuel Lutterloh, Deputy Quartermaster General of the Revolutionary War. Charles' parents, Henry Lewis Lutterloh and Elizabeth Grantham Lutterloh, became the grandparents of 19 medical doctors (1986 "Guinness Book of World Records"). This work was suggested by Mr. Clements R. Markham's "Memoir on the Indian Surveys," in which the geographical and other kindred operations carried out in India from the date of the British occupation were reviewed in a most picturesque and masterly manner. In 1878 a second edition of Mr. Markham's work was published, in which the narrative was brought up to 1875, and in some cases for a year or so later. For the last fifteen years I have been accumulating notes in moments of leisure, with a view to the publication of a volume which might serve as a continuation to that by Mr. Markham, and the kind support given to the project by the Secretary of State for India and the Viceroy has now enabled me to present the work in a more or less complete shape. Organizational leaders in institutions of higher education expect instructors to implement blended learning courses without understanding instructor experiences with technology. Requiring faculty to teach blended learning courses without fully understanding the experiences instructors had implementing technology may lead to developing inappropriate professional training programs, ineffective use of technology, or to instructor disuse of technology in the future. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological research study was to explore the experiences instructors had implementing technology in blended learning courses in campus-based institutions of higher education worldwide. This qualitative phenomenological research study used a modified van Kaam method by Moustakas (1994) with in-depth, semi-structured interviews to explore the experiences instructors had implementing technology in blended learning courses. The analysis of the transcribed interviews revealed four themes: (a) facilitating instruction and learning, (b) frustrating, (c) satisfying and rewarding, and (d) socially connecting. The conclusions derived from the study suggest that learning about the experiences instructors had implementing technology in blended learning courses may guide educational leaders in providing support and in preparing professional development workshops on how to teach blended learning courses.
