Nixon's War on Drugs was written to demonstrate how simple it is for someone of real or assumed authority to indoctrinate fear into the minds of the people. This author was fortunate enough to have lived in a time where it was not uncommon for folks to reply to an ORDER of, "You can't sit there," with a response of, "By whose authority do you speak, sir?" rather than today's, "I'm sorry sir, I'll move."
