Michel Foucault refers to 1965-1970 as, in philosophical terms, 'the five brief, impassioned, jubilant, enigmatic years'. This book reinterprets Jacques Derrida's work from this period, most especially in L'Écriture et la Différence (Writing and Difference), and argues that a transformation takes place here which has been marginalized in readings of his work to date. Irwin follows with a look at how the 'grammatological opening' becomes crucial for Derrida's work in the 1970s and beyond, incorporating one of his last readings of embodiment from 2000. By drawing our attention to the politics of desire and sexuality, this groundbreaking book engages with the work of key continental theorists, including Artaud, Bataille, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Habermas and Cixous, whilst also examining Derrida's relationship with Plato and feminist theory. This book is divided into two sections—section 1 is about topics in population while section 2 is about topics in health. I believe that the issues in the population are still basic and that with careful planning and dedication, problems in health and population can be managed and resolved. The first and foremost effort for any country to start with is better governance, work ethics, and better education on health behaviors such as exercising and healthy eating. One can choose not to initiate smoking, drinking, and gambling. Communal riots do not take place unless we want it. Corruption and tax evasion are checked. Better income distribution is possible through income ceilings. Jobs are also created through retirement policies to overcome household poverty. Jobs, unemployment allowances, and pensions improve living standards with price controls. Education is the right of every child. Child labor and human trafficking are violations of human rights. Governments are working on zero tolerance for domestic violence. Organized crimes are checked through better social governance, acts of education, and employment. Businesses enjoy subsidy while universities, hospitals, and research use the funding to execute programs in education, research, and healthcare. Women’s education and employment brings women respect and autonomy, which are contributing factors in population control. I hope you enjoy reading the text. —Baljit

By the end of the twentieth century, Freemasonry had acquired an unsavoury reputation as a secretive network of wealthy men looking out for each others’ interests. The popular view is of an organisation that, if not actually corrupt, is certainly viewed with deep mistrust by the press and wider society. Yet, as this book makes clear, this view contrasts sharply with the situation at the beginning of the century when the public’s perception of Freemasonry in Britain was much more benevolent, with numerous establishment figures (including monarchs, government ministers, archbishops and civic worthies) enthusiastically recommending Freemasonry as the key to model citizenship. Focusing particularly on the role of the press, this book investigates the transformation of the image of Freemasonry in Britain from respectability to suspicion. It describes how the media projected a positive message of the organisation for almost forty years, based on a mass of news emanating from the organisation itself, before a change in public regard occurred during the later twentieth-century. This change in the public mood, the book argues, was due primarily to Masonic withdrawal from the public sphere and a disengagement with the press. Through an examination of the subject of Freemasonry and the British press, a number of related social trends are addressed, including the decline of deference, the erosion of privacy, greater competition in the media, the emergence of more aggressive and investigative journalism, the consequences of media isolation and the rise of professional Public Relations. The book also illuminates the organisation’s collisions with nationalism, communism, and state welfare provision. As such, the study is illuminating not only for students of Freemasonry, but those with an interest in the wider social history of modern Britain.

An early reviewer of this book stated that he had difficulty assessing its marketability because it "falls between the cracks" of geological literature. We have designed this book to meet a need of modem geology: namely, a single source providing both detailed and synoptic stratigraphy of the various regions of North America, through geological time. Shortly after beginning work on such a book, we realized why it had not yet been written: it required six years of effort, assimilation of an incredible amount of information, and two years' additional work to cut the volume down to publishable size. Further, by the time the final chapter was written, the fIrst few were already out of date. Nevertheless, the book lies in front of you. It is intended to serve several purposes. As a textbook, it will serve the following courses: • Regional stratigraphy • Sedimentary tectonics • Regional tectonics • Advanced historical geology • Survey-level paleontology Obviously, not all portions of the book are relevant to all of the above courses. We assume the reader will retain this book after the particular course is done, and will use it as a reference book. Hopefully, others will obtain the book solely for reference purposes. We believe it will be especially useful for the working geologist or academic geologist seeking generalized and some moderately detailed information about a region or geological time interval which is unfamiliar.

Kenneth Lokensgard also contributes to the studies of material culture and exchange; central to his investigation is the critical examination and reapplication of the interpretative terms "gift" and "commodity." Lowndes County, located deep in the wiregrass region of southern Georgia, has been continuously occupied since ancient times. Through the centuries, various Native American tribes inhabited the region, but they lingered relatively briefly and left few tangible traces. The areas written history began with the establishment around 1623 of the Spanish mission of Santa Cruz de Cachipile in southern Lowndes. Georgias general assembly created Lowndes County from the southern half of Irwin County in 1825 and named it for William Jones Lowndes of South Carolina. The present county seat, Valdosta, dates from the construction of the Atlantic and Gulf Railroad across Lowndes from 1859 to 1860. Ultimately the county was to have five railroads, which, combined with U.S. Highways 41 and 84 and Interstate 75, were to be major factors in dramatic local growth.

It is about what a leader or a manager does to bring about staff efficiency and effectiveness. A leader or a manager is effective when he or she brings about the desired results for the organization by using different approaches to the development of personal and interpersonal effectiveness of the staff by daily decision making, staffing, planning, forecasting, nurturing, coaching, directing, organizing, marketing, encouraging and controlling quality. Effective Leadership Management emphasizes leadership as the intersection of character, knowledge, skill and desire. Management supervises tasks but leadership deals with people who supervise tasks. In other words, management is doing things right, while leadership is doing the right things. Effective Leadership Management styles are achievable by using mixtures of different styles as situation arises. Each leader has to choose style(s) that suits his or her personality and that best represents the values of the organization. In all, a leader has to be transparent with all daily dealings, communicates effectively, be honest with staff members, showing an unbending integrity, at the same time be knowledgeable or skillful about the tasks at hand, and be easy to follow. When an employee is encouraged, motivated and positively appraised, his or her performance will be enhanced. This book strongly emphasizes theory Z by Dr. Ouchi in which a management or leadership style focuses on a strong company philosophy, a distinctive corporate culture, long-range staff development, and consensus decision making. When decisions and policies that relate to customers are being made by an organization, it is important to understand that others such as customers, community, staff, suppliers and stake holders opinions should be considered. This is called a holistic view approach to decision making. It is my hope that readers will find this book useful either as a church leader, school principal or university president, hospital or nursing home administrator, nurse manager or departmental head, company owners or CEO that an effective and efficient leader or manager cannot lead or manage alone by skills or knowledge, but with styles, character, personality, and by example.

As an ancient Christian community, the Mar Thoma Church with its vibrant life of mission and sacraments, has a pride of place in the Christendom. The evangelization process and constant migration made this church a global Church, which has encountered multi-cultural and multi-ethnic atmosphere and assimilated various cultural practices and faced faith confrontation in its own geographical regions. This confrontation has caused a renewed view of nature, identity and mission of the Church in a positive manner. Mission is, in fact, the lifeblood of the Church. Through its mission-work and revised liturgy, the Mar Thoma Church took a pioneer role in the formation and nurturing of new Christian communities in India and different parts of the world. Hence, this book reflects on the role of liturgy and its influence on the missionary undertakings of the MTC. It elucidates how the revised liturgy functions as a basis for mission and recounts how liturgy and mission are connected. Further, the diverse mission centres of the Church and its cultural specialties, an integration of liturgy and evangelism, importance of liturgicalorientation and training, are also dealt with in detail. Added to this, the various challenges of the Church in its mission fields and diaspora regions are studied in the framework of the liturgy. The scope of liturgical renewal is looked into where the liturgical adaptation and possibilities of contextual liturgies in the Church are studied. This study concludes with some of the pertinent liturgical proposals for the furtherance to sustain the life and mission of the Church. With a living experience and profound theological understanding, this ancient but reformed Church has something unique to offer to the whole Christendom.
