A Catalogue of Saddletree Indian Soldiers Life Portraits By: Rev. Dr. Carolyn Cummings-Woriax In her latest book, Rev. Dr. Carolyn Cummings-Woriax has endeavored to bring to life the stories of the descendants of the early Revolutionary War Patriots of the Saddletree Community (Lumberton, North Carolina), as reflected upon in her first book, Revolutionary War Patriots: Bladen, Robeson, Cumberland, Sampson, and Duplin Counties, NC. This document, A Catalogue of Saddletree Indian Soldiers' Life Portraits, not only brings to life the former patriots' descendants, it continues to reveal the migration routes of the soldiers from the Saddletree Community throughout the United States, and beyond. Despite the racial and social injustices prevalent inside and outside of their communities, these Saddletree soldiers left the comfort of their culture, family and homes for the mission in service to the people of the United States of America, and its allies, during a pivotal time of American history when these soldiers and their families resided on the fringe of socioeconomic standards. During this exploit, the author examines why the commonality failed to continue in practice, or if the descendants knew about the brotherhood of the early soldiers. She found, through her investigative research, that these lifestyle changes in Robeson County, NC, began during the eras of the Reconstruction Period and the Civil War. Rev. Dr. Cummings-Woriax would like to offer thanks and a heartfelt appreciation to Colonel Thomas Wynn for his dedication and contributions in initiating the Memorial Living War at the Saddletree Community Building. This catalogue serves as a humble effort to give thanks to the many who served from the Saddletree and surrounding communities. Through this endeavor the author seeks to continue the legacies of those who went to war and never returned (Killed in Action, Prisoners of War, Missing in Action, Lost at Sea) or returned home with the seen and/or unseen wounds of war and service to the country.
This volume is the first to illustrate the application of rhetorical theory and critical perspectives to explain public relations practices. It provides a systematic and coherent statement of the critical guidelines and philosophical underpinnings of public relations and as such should guide pedagogy and practice. It also supplies pedagogic and critical standards with which to meet the needs of an increasingly sophisticated society that tends to reject all of public relations as propaganda. With the enormous amount of money spent on product publicity and public policy debates, this book gives practitioners a sense of whether their public relations campaigns make a contribution to the organizational bottom line by means of achieving the timeless standards of the art of rhetoric.

It is also a story about a highly skilled and awarded businesswoman in the biotech industry, and a cancer patient and survivor during Covid-19. This is a story that will inspire entrepreneurs, mothers, sons, daughters and dreamers. “I dedicate this book that traces my private and professional journey, to all those whose lives have been interrupted and dream of returning to normal one day. I dedicate it to every patient going through the uncertainty and torment of cancer. I want you to know you are not alone. You are shielded with science, innovation and discovery. A brilliant medical doctor works his way through the help of a pen pal into a specialist training course in a foreign country. Initially lonely and friendless save for his benefactor pen pal he later warms his way into the love of an indigenous staff nurse in the hospital where he did his residency program. Fame and fortune smile on the doctor after his specialization and he secures appointment as a staff of a teaching hospital in another region of his native country after an initial discriminatory rejection during an interview. Through further good luck coupled with his sterling qualities of honesty he gets appointed as a chairman of one of his countrys largest mining companies after an accelerated promotion in his professional practice. He excels in the administration of the fledging company and turns its fortunes around within a very short time. His uncompromising stance against corruption, the very ills that had earlier wrecked the company, pitches him against certain highly-placed individuals whose corrupt exploitation of the industry were blocked by the chairmans uncompromising stance with evil practices. The Chairman gets fired but his undeniable qualities again get him noticed by the presidency of his country which appoints him the president of his University. History repeats itself as a result of insistence on transparency again leading to flight and resignation of the Vice Chancellor. Unfortunately infidelity and inattentiveness to family matters leads to the failure of the Vice Chancellors marriage. Failure of attempts to repair the damages finally leads a once promising young man into headlong dash for dinner with the devil with consequent disastrous consequences for Konganoga the country that was being fleeced. Konganoga: Mauling the Polity is a thrilling tale of the persistent clash between good and evil and the effects against a once great and a promising people and nation.

As breathing is essential for our life to sustain so is criticism for all types of literature to flourish. It regulates and controls quality production of the literary activities. It links the creators of literature to the readers. It is of various types say for instance theoretical criticism, practical criticism, eco criticism and so on. Critics of the different languages of the world have been contributing to the domain of criticism over a wide span of time period say from BC. to AD. They have set the yard sticks or the principles or parameters or the rules of evaluation of literature and collection of such rules is called as literary theories. The present edition Modern and Ancient Literary Theories is an exhaustive critical commentary on the chosen critics of the world level. We know the writers have been creating literature in almost every language which is written and read but who would keep an account of its worth. It may or may not be up to the standard of quality reading and appreciation so it comes to share of critics to shoulder this responsibility to allow fine quality literature to flourish and worth less literature to sink down and for this process to administer the critics need the literary theories which this book supplies in short, concise and appropriate form. Besides the community of critics, the collection of the literary theories is needed by the young aspirants of literary studies who want to be story writers, poets, dramatists, novelists and the writers of the tales. These guidelines of literary criticism tell them of the basic requirements with the help of which these literary genres can be composed. These critical standards also sharpen their literary craftsmanship and intellectuality. Every year so many college and university students prepare for their examination and they have to lay their hand on different books on literary theories but in this book sincere efforts have been done to induct the study material at one place to minimize the inconvenience that is caused to the community of the students. This book is self-sufficient and self- explanatory to deal with the critical standards of the various critics and it will help those readers pursuing studies in the principles of criticism or literary theories. The author would like to express his sincere thanks to the Publisher HORIZON BOOKS (A DIVISION OF IGNITED MINDS EDUTECH PVT LTD and his friend Mr. Maman Chand for motivating him to write this book and Mr. Sunil Saini and Mr. Nandan Singh for assisting him in the computer work to design this book. The Kennedy Incident November 22, 2013 will mark the 50th anniversary of the greatest crime ever committed in this great nation, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the president of the United States. Then, two days later the man accused of having committed that crime, Lee Harvey Oswald, was also murdered, shot down in the Dallas Police Headquarters by mob thug Jack Ruby. The nation was aghast. How could such things happen in 20th century America? Ah, but not to worry. President Lyndon Baines Johnson immediately announced the appointment of a blue-ribbon committee, chaired by none other than the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Earl Warren, to discover just how such murders could have happened in Dallas, Texas in I963. Known as the Warren Commission, it was a committee whose judgment could not be questioned. But then a year later the WC issued its report (known as the Warren Commission Report) and almost immediately citizens from one end of the country to the other were yelling questions-chard questions that insulted both the WC's judgment and its objectivity. As though that were not bad enough, A few months later a New York attorney, Mark Lane, hired by Oswald's mother to vindicate her son, published his myth-shattering book, Rush To Judgment. The Warren Commission was blown out of the water. But still no satisfactory answers were forthcoming. Lyndon Baines Johnson and his political sycophants were very happy to blame Oswald for the entire tragedy. Anyone but themselves. Then in New Orleans rose a new challenge. District Attorney Jim Garrison began his investigation into the murders. But again the Federal Government reared its ugly head. State governors across the nation were advised to ignore subpoenas to testify in Garrison's trial. And in almost every instance those governors obeyed their orders. Other essential witnesses simply "committed suicide." Garrison himself was pilloried and held up to ridicule by the national news media. Still he persisted. In the end, with no witnesses [0 testify, Garrison's trial ended in not guilty verdicts. Still. after 50 years he remains the only person ever to bring anyone to trial for the murders that occurred in Dallas some fifty years ago. In this book, based on the evidence and testimony associated with the murders of Kennedy and Oswald, I have tried to present events as they actually occurred and show who was truly behind them. And I do so with no apologies to anyone. I will say that my heart goes out to Marina Oswald and her two daughters June Lee and Rachel. May God be with them.

My name is Dr. Richard F. Felicetti. I have always been interested in the history of the United States, especially Presidents of the United States. In the early 1960s I started and still do today, collecting Presidential Campaign Buttons. My professional career was in the Field of Education. After two years of Military Service, I began my professional career. I was a Teacher, Principal at three levels-Grade School, Junior High School and High School, Director of a Head Start Summer Program, Adjunct College Professor and Superintendent of a Grade School District. I retired as Superintendent of School District 206, Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois, the high school district that I graduated from in 1951. When I graduated from high school, I went on to receive my Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Northern Illinois University. I received my Ph.D. from Walden University in 1993. When I retired from education in 1994, I asked myself what can I do that would be of interest. With my hobby of collecting Presidential Campaign Buttons, I thought it would be fun, exciting and certainly interesting to visit all the gravesites of the deceased Presidents of the United States. I began my journey in 1999 and completed it in 2012. During that time, I have visited every gravesite of our deceased presidents and in some cases I have visited them on many occasions. When I visited the gravesites, I would take thirty to forty photographs of them. From the very beginning, I knew that someday I would write a book covering my thoughts and experiences that I had while on was on my journey. I have now completed my book. I have written a story about each visit to the presidential gravesites. To go along with each story, I would like to have certain photographs printed of the presidential gravesites. In addition to writing about my visits to the presidential gravesites, I have written my Introduction, Epilogue, Acknowledgements, Dedication and also About the Author. I do feel my story will create interest, make a person smile and at times bring tears to the eyes of the reader. It is a story that was heart warming for me to do and I am hopeful that I may share it with the world. I presently live in Peoria, Arizona with my wife, Sharon. As we continue to travel, we will continue to visit presidential gravesites. Every visit is different, always meaningful, moving, sometimes sad, but always tells me that my story has to be shared.

One man’s search for truth on a personal journey of invention and faith! Today, magnetic resonance imaging machines (MRIs) and similar technologies are saving lives in hospitals and clinics throughout the world. In 1969, this kind of technique was just an idea in the visionary mind of Dr. Raymond Damadian. As a young boy, he watched his grandmother die painfully from breast cancer. Dr. Damadian would eventually decide on a career in medical research and pioneer this field of amazing research. Although in 1971 his concept of detecting tumors through magnetic resonance imaging was widely met with skepticism, he became the first researcher to do a full-body scan of a human being in 1977 in order to see if there was cancer present. His life has been an incredible journey of discovery helping you learn: How his concept for cancer detection was inspired and developed Why faith became an integral part of his work Why he is a strong supporter of the creativity and freedom found in patents. From resourcefully creating his discoveries on a shoestring budget to a battle with the business behemoth known as G.E., learn how the exciting development of this technology led him to a self examination of his life and faith. What driving force is at the heart of what can arguably be called one of the greatest minds in the past 50 years and how does faith play a crucial role in his work?

The Vietnam War is one of the longest and most controversial in US history. This book seeks to explore what lessons the US military took from that conflict as to how and when it was appropriate for the United States to use the enormous military force at its disposal and how these lessons have come to influence and shape US foreign policy in subsequent decades. In particular this book will focus on the evolution of the so called ‘Powell Doctrine’ and the intellectual climate that lead to it. The book will do this by examining a series of case studies from the mid-1970s to the present war in Afghanistan.

Ultimately, this study is about a smaller Vietnam War than that which is commonly recalled. It focuses on expectations concerning the impact of air power on the ground war and on some of its actual effects, but it avoids major treatment of some of the most dramatic air actions of the war, such as the bombing of Hanoi. To many who fought the war and believe it ought to have been conducted on a still larger scale or with fewer restraints, this study may seem almost perverse, emphasizing as it does the utility of air power in conducting the conflict as a ground war and without total exploitation of our most awe-inspiring technology. Although the chapters in this study are intended to form a coherent and unified argument, each also offers discrete messages. The chapters are not meant to be definitive. They do not exhaust available documentary material, and they often rely heavily on published accounts. Nor do they provide a complete chronological picture of the uses of air power, even with respect to the ground war. Nor is coverage of areas in which air power was employed—South Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam—evenly distributed nor necessarily proportionate to the effort expended in each place during the war. Lastly, some may find one or another form of air power either slightly or insufficiently treated. Such criticisms are beside the point, for the objectives of this study are to explore a comparatively neglected theme—the impact of air power on the ground—and to encourage further utilization of lessons drawn from the Vietnam experience.

Though Robert Fergusson published only one collection of poems during his lifetime, he was a fixture in the Scottish periodical press. Rhona Brown explores Fergusson's poetic output in its immediate periodical context, enabling a new understanding of Fergusson's contribution to poetry that also enlarges on our understanding of the Scottish periodical press. Focusing on the development of his career in Walter Ruddiman's Weekly Magazine, Brown situates Fergusson's poetry alongside contemporary events that expose Fergusson's preoccupations with the frivolities of fashion, theatrical culture, the economic status of Scottish manufacture, and politics. At the same time, Brown offers fascinating insights into the political climate of Enlightenment Scotland and shows the Weekly Magazine in relationship to the larger Scottish and British periodical milieus. She concludes by exploring reactions to Fergusson's death in the British periodical presses, arguing that contrary to critical consensus, the poet's death was ignored neither by his own country nor by the larger literary community.

Although unconventional therapies have coexisted with traditional medicine for centuries, the extent of their utilization was only recently recognized; we now know between one third and one half of patients receiving traditional rehabilitation therapies have had some experience with what has come to be referred to variously as alternative, complementary, or integrative medicine. Given the pervasiveness and popularity of alternative medicine, physicians and other health professionals should be able to appropriately advise or counsel patients regarding the potential benefits or problems associated with such interventions. In order to do so, they need to become familiar with some of the more common therapies and the rapidly expanding research literature that has grown around them. The present volume addresses these needs and will serve as an introductory guide for rehabilitation practitioners who wish to expand their range of treatment options. This book does not presume or attempt to be an encyclopedic compendium of all types of alternative medicine services. Instead, we have selected representative therapies that will serve to introduce the reader to the wide range of therapies available. The book has organized the chapters into categories that emphasize their kinship with the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation: manipulation, therapeutic movement, mind-body techniques, and physical modalities. Subsequent sections deal with research and reimbursement, while the final chapters highlight specific therapies in the clinical management of several common disabling disorders. This book will be of considerable interest to a wide range of medical specialists, particularly those who treat chronic or painful disabling diseases: physiatrists, neurologists, rheumatologists, orthopedists, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, internists, and primary care physicians. Additionally, physical and occupational therapists, psychologists, chiropractors, and herbalists will find its contents useful. Finally, practitioners of any of the individual therapies included in the contents will find a wealth of scientific and clinical documentation to utilize in their practices.

In her critical biography of Anna Seward (1742-1809), Teresa Barnard examines the poet's unpublished letters and manuscripts, providing a fresh perspective on Seward's life and historical milieu that restores and problematizes Seward's carefully constructed narrative of her life. Of the poet Anna Seward, it may be said with some veracity that hers was an epistolary life. What is known of Seward comes from six volumes of her letters and from juvenile letters that prefaced her books of poetry, all published posthumously. That Seward intended her correspondence to serve as her autobiography is clear, but she could not have anticipated that the letters she intended for publication would be drastically edited and censored by her literary editor, Walter Scott, and by her publisher, Archibald Constable. Stripped of their vitality and much of their significance, the published letters omit telling tales of the intricacies of the marriage market and Seward's own battles against gender inequality in the educational and workplace spheres. Seward's correspondents included Erasmus Darwin, William Hayley, Helen Maria Williams, and Robert Southey, and her letters are packed with stories and anecdotes about her friends' lives and characters, what they looked like, and how they lived. Particularly compelling is Barnard's discussion of Seward's astonishing last will and testament, a twenty-page document that summarizes her life, achievements, and self-definition as a writing woman. Barnard's biography not only challenges what is known about Seward, but provides new information about the lives and times of eighteenth-century writers.

My last book ?Thoughts?, based on the sculpture created by Augusta Rodan, who like the great distinguished African American sculptor Ezekiel, both used clay rather than stone. He admired the great legendary Michael Angelo and did his artistic creations in the Cistine Chapel. I decided to have my version of the ?Thinker? to have dark pigmentation with wooly hair and broad features. The muscular and powerful appearing Black figure also can think. Black men can also think and have thoughts and had to think to survive the past. Black men are now recognized to have brain power and have the ability to think in the 21st Century as exemplified by the muscular chest of President Obama.
Dignity is fundamental to every single person’s life and history; and every interaction with another human being can potentially influence a person’s sense of identity and self-esteem. In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the importance of ‘dignity in care’. When healthcare organisations and individuals prioritise dignity, service users, carers and staff are treated with respect, compassion and understanding, and safe, good-quality healthcare services are delivered. In contrast, when dignity and respect are neglected or violated, people experience poor-quality care and may even suffer neglect and abuse. For all these reasons, it is clearly vital that all healthcare workers have a thorough understanding of dignity and how to place it at the centre of all their activities. Annotation. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.
