The book title: “The Proof is in the Pudding” means that to fully test something you need to experience it yourself. My goal was to prove that we do have a Soul and there is a Spiritual Reality, why I wanted to prove this was because I have had many spiritual events in my life; When I was three years old I had a near death experience, so I knew I had a Soul, because I was outside my body and able to travel until I returned to my body. However I never told the public until 2010, in an article I wrote for a magazine. Later in life I found a need within myself to find the answers to my experiences. So after many years of studying these events of my own and others, including social research of Ancient Philosophers, I found they believed there is a Spiritual Reality and it was the cause for the Physical Reality and our world. They also believed that there was a higher power that created all there is in both realities. Metaphysics was their world view. So the hope I wish to bring from this book is this, if we utilize our Soul we will gain the insight to all our problems and be able to solve them. Here are two quotes from Ancient Philosophers, that have changed my world view on being our true selves! “Plotinus’ believed that man should reject material things and should purify his Soul and lift it up to a communion with the ‘ONE’ Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy – good summary of Plotinus’and his teachings. “Those who obtain divinity become Gods... but by nature there is only one God, but many by participation.” Boethius 480 AD to 524 AD – Philosophy 100 Essential Thinkers – Philip Stokes, page 82. I believe it is possible to be less materialistic and align our Soul with a higher power to live like a God serving mankind, like others have demonstrated, it just might be the best parent, member of your community etc; or try living your best by practising the St. Francis Prayer in your daily affairs. This will allow you to live in wholeness, the benefits are great. I think my pocket book of hope may help people be more open minded and seek truth.

In 1854, the United States acquired the roughly 30,000-square-mile region of present-day southern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico from Mexico as part of the Gadsden Purchase. This new Southern Corridor was ideal for train routes from Texas to California, and soon tracks were laid for the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe rail lines. Shipping goods by train was more efficient, and for desperate outlaws and opportunistic lawmen, robbing trains was high-risk, high-reward. The Southern Corridor was the location of sixteen train robberies between 1883 and 1922. It was also the homebase of cowboy-turned-outlaw Black Jack Ketchum’s High Five Gang. Most of these desperadoes rode the rails to Arizona’s Cochise County on the US-Mexico border where locals and lawmen alike hid them from discovery. Both Wyatt Earp and Texas John Slaughter tried to clean them out, but it took the Arizona Rangers to finish the job. It was a time and place where posses were as likely to get arrested as the bandits. Some of the Rangers and some of Slaughter’s deputies were train robbers. When rewards were offered there were often so many claimants that only the lawyers came out ahead. Southwest Train Robberies chronicles the train heists throughout the region at the turn of the twentieth century, and the robbers who pulled off these train jobs with daring, deceit, and plain dumb luck! Many of these blundering outlaws escaped capture by baffling law enforcement. One outlaw crew had their own caboose, Number 44, and the railroad shipped them back and forth between Tucson and El Paso while they scouted locations. Legend says one gang disappeared into Colossal Cave to split the loot leaving the posse out front while they divided the cash and escaped out another entrance. The antics of these outlaws inspired Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid to blow up an express car and to run out guns blazing into the fire of a company of soldiers.

Drag racing is a very regulated sport. In the history of the NHRA, IHRA, and other sanctioning bodies, many classes existed in an effort to make sure the cars racing against each other are as equal as possible. It is a noble, if not futile, pursuit. You have two cars facing off that have very similar statistics in terms of weight, transmission type, fuel type, estimated horsepower, and all other sorts of measurables. The byproduct is that often the races that were "fair" were not the races that the fans wanted to see. During the golden age of drag racing, fans didn't care as much about class racing as much as they wanted to see scores settled, rivalries battled, and interesting match-ups. There were the manufacturer rivalries, Ford versus Chevy, Chevy versus Mopar, Mopar versus Ford, as well as numerous driver rivalries. Match races were also a great way to feature wildly popular cars that no longer had a class in which to compete, yet the fans still wanted to see them. So popular and intense were these races that many track promoters didn't bother to promote class racing at all. Instead, they used the match races as headliners, similar to the marquee at your local arena or a billboard in Las Vegas, all resulting in putting more fans in the stands. And the drivers loved it too. Although the prize money for national events was fairly average for the day, the extra appearance fees and prize money to lure the most popular match racers to events increased the driver's take exponentially. Many of the most popular pro drivers quit class racing altogether just to go match racing. Veteran drag race author Doug Boyce tells the tale of the history of match racing through the cars, the drivers, the events, the classes, the rivalries, and everything else that was fun about match racing during the golden era. It's all here, complemented by wonderful vintage photography provided by fans and professionals in attendance.
