The purpose of this study is to examine the questioning behavior of males and females in an undergraduate Speech class. Whether one is analyzing social, mental, emotional, or verbal behavior of students, biological sex is usually a factor. This study describes differences between male and female questioning and discusses the implications of these differences for classroom teaching. The classroom is a small society with its own special language, a language that contributes to classroom events. Student questioning, a behavior that provides information on how students adapt and function within the classroom, is an important part of the student learning repertoire. Although researchers have devoted much attention to teacher questioning, they have devoted little attention to male/female questioning in the college classroom. This qualitative study gathers data in the form of direct observation, field notes, coding of students' questions, journals, and audio-taping over a period of two months [thirteen observations]. My findings revealed no differences between males and females on the types of questions they asked. Males, however, asked more questions overall than females. This study offers suggestions for further research.

A great deal has been written on how children learn to speak, but development of language comprehension has been a relatively neglected topic. This book is unique in integrating research in language acquisition, psycholinguistics and neuropsychology to give a comprehensive picture of the process we call "comprehension", right from the reception of an acoustic stimulus at the ear, up to the point where we interpret the message the speaker intended to convey by the utterance. A major theme of the book is that "comprehension" is not a unitary skill: to understand spoken language, one needs the ability to classify incoming speech sounds, to relate them to a "mental lexicon", to interpret the propositions encoded by word order and grammatical inflections, and to use information from the environmental and social context to select, from a wide range of possible interpretations, the one that was intended by the speaker. Furthermore, although neuropsychological and experimental research on adult comprehension can provide useful concepts and methods for assessing comprehension, they should be applied with caution, because a sequential, bottom-up information processing model of comprehension is ill-suited to the developmental context. The emphasis of the book is on children with specific language impairments, but normal development is also given extensive coverage. The focus is on research and theory, rather than practical matters of assessment and intervention. Nevertheless, while this book is not intended as a clinical guide to assessment, it does aim to provide a theoretical framework that can help clinicians develop a clearer understanding of what comprehension involves, and how different types of difficulty may be pinpointed.

In the first pages of my book, there you will find my testimony and how the messages came about. My Testimony I've been a Christian for over twenty-five years, visited other churches and participated in praise and worship. I am a member of Trinity Assembly of God and serves in many capacities including serving as a board member, helping others in need, also giving time and personal finances and possessions to those less fortunate than myself, attending church services sitting quietly in the pew three times a week or more during times of revival. I have worked about thirty to forty years cleaning houses, offices, churches, and funeral homes. After retirement, I started having breathing problems around home and decided to see my doctor. One visit lead to a referral to other doctors and a lot of tests. After all the tests, the diagnosis was restricted lung disease which means my lungs don't produce oxygen for the actions of my body. I am now on oxygen 24/7. After some research online, I discovered there is no cure or medicine that will heal me other than a lung transplant or a miracle. I'm praying for that miracle. Like any life-threatening disease, the actual effects didn't sink in until one night while lying in bed trying to go to sleep; I was praying and crying out to the Lord. I was asking him, "If I take my last breath tonight and come to heaven, what would you say to me?" The Lord said, "I know you not." But I reminded the Lord of all the good things I had done in his name, all the people I had personally helped even taking money from my wallet to give to others. I said, "Lord, I've helped people to pay their utilities bills. Lord, you knew me before I was born." Again he said, "I know you not." I was devastated and hurt. The next morning when I looked in the dictionary for the meaning of to know, I found three meanings. Everyone understands what the word means. What the Lord wanted me to understand is this: All the years of reading and studying the Holy Bible, I knew of him, about him, but did not know him. So this is why he said he didn't know me because I didn't have a relationship with him. So deciding to rectify the situation, I decided to start spending time with the Lord. Every morning for the last three years, I have been spending quality time with the Lord in worship, devotions, prayer, and Bible study. Then the Lord started giving me messages for all people. At first, they were sentences and then paragraphs and finally entire messages. The Lord has been gracious enough to give me hundreds of messages and warnings for his people. I've learned from all the messages that the main point the Lord wanted from his people is for them to get and develop a closer relationship with him in these last days. Also, some of the messages are meant to teach and help individuals to live a righteous life in these perilous times. He is concerned for those that are lost. It's my desire that these precious words from God will help, encourage, and enlighten all people from all nations. His faithful servant, Dorothy Mattingly
