To serve the church is as close as we are able to come on this earth to physically serving Christ himself. The church...is the presence of Christ on earth today...I have fallen in love with the church. One of the most misunderstood of God's works is what He means to accomplish through His church. Why is it that God values His church so much? Why is it that He has invested so much in what we often see as an unreliable and self-serving organization? Despite the fact that in the church today we see merely a shadow of the promise of what God intends, we do have a great deal written in the Bible both about the present state of the church and of its future. In Portraits of the Church, author Donald Rhody explores the present state of the church and how our misunderstanding of what God is doing often causes us to act in ways that do not harmonize with His plan. If we would better understand the Lord's ultimate goal for the church, we could better serve Him in this work. In so doing, we will also better see what God is accomplishing, and we will be amazed!
Many travelers never learn the art of enjoying the journey of life. In the same way that some people rush through a road trip and never really notice pleasant things along the way, many people also live such a stressed lifestyle that they miss out on experiences that are enjoyable and refreshing. Sharing experiences from his travels, Donald Rhody thoughtfully relates personal interactions to the touch of God. In Surprised by a Garden, he describes being on a dusty and hot bus ride in India when he suddenly finds himself in the midst of a beautiful garden at the side of the road. The presence of the garden in the midst of an otherwise dust-choked day so transformed an otherwise arduous trip that it also transformed Rhody's manner of looking at life. He has learned to enjoy the journey of life, finding gardens of many types: people, places, experiences, and thoughts. Take a journey with Rhody through several countries of the world to see the gardens that he has experienced and discover the heart of a God who intimately cares for you. Be Surprised by a Garden along the pathway of your life.

Generally speaking, the use of remote sensing imagery will reduce field work. Remote sensing imagery gives an overall view of the forest in addition to more detailed information, the extent of which depends mainly on scale and film used in case of analogue data, and mainly on pixel size in case of digital data. This book deals with measurements and estimations of forest stand parameters using aerial photographic, aircraft and satellite scanning data, radar and laser imagery. It includes technical and statistical information of practical examples from both temperate and tropical forests. Statistical analysis of measurement data and sampling techniques are given when required. The obtained results are compared with those from other techniques, showing their relative advantage or disadvantage.

On March 18, 1942, barely one hundred days after Japan’s devastating “surprise attack” on the United States Navy’s Pacific Fleet based at Pearl Harbor, a group of American soldiers were guarding a beach on the north shore of the Hawaiian island of Oahu against an expected Japanese amphibious invasion. The atmosphere was tense. Suddenly, a gunshot shattered the almost perfect silence of that tropical night. In its aftermath, one young American soldier lay dead not far from the beach he was guarding. But who was he? And what were the circumstances which had led to his tragic death? The Shadow of Sacrifice answers these questions and, in the process, tells the compelling and poignant story of the way in which that single gunshot has echoed down through the generations of one typical American family. Here is a mystery, a tragedy, a kind of love-story, a tale of survival and transformation, and the unfolding record of promises made and kept. The young American soldier who died mysteriously on that Hawaiian beach in 1942 was my beloved uncle, Private First Class Donald Joseph John Deignan, for whom I was proudly named. Our lives have always been closely and positively connected. Here, just in time for the 75th Anniversary of the Pearl Harbor Attack, is a thorough examination of the unbreakable and mutually beneficial bonds of love and loyalty which still unite us today. Veterans and their families, Baby-boomers, immigrants and people with disabilities will all find themselves reflected in our particular story.

As we have been made aware, the year 2012 has been long predicted by the Mayans to be the year that the present world comes to an end. Of course, this is not the first of the end of the world predictions, nor will it be the last. There seems to be something within each one of us that tells us this present earth is eventually headed for destruction, be it from war, pollution, or even by being hit by an asteroid. The Bible also talks about the end of this present earth. It even has many predictions about the time of the end. Watching for the Day is a book about those prophecies. But it's not just another prophecy book. Some of the conclusions in this book are unique, such as a radically new concept of history. In his many years of doctrinal study, author Donald Rhody noticed that most of the teachings of the various prophetic and eschatological views seemed mostly to be concerned with defending an already predetermined doctrinal position rather than trying to see what the Bible actually had to say on the subjects. Many theologians simply read into the Scripture their own opinions. Because of this, Rhody decided to take the attitude of the first disciples when they originally asked Jesus about this subject. They had no predetermined or prejudiced view about the teachings of prophecy. They simply asked a question, 'What is the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?' Watching for the Day gives you a fresh perspective on the end times, allowing you to grasp an important concept you will not soon forget.
