That Bird Is A Nerd is a bright and colorful, imaginative story in rhyming lines, which is intended to capture the attention of young children as the book is read to them. The book is also a good book for early readers, with relatively easy words and a story that encourages new readers to participate. The engaging illustrations in the book were created by Kim Clarice Smith. Kim is the Authors niece, and she has an undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Through her interaction with young nephews and nieces in the Smith family, who could not yet make the full sound of her name, Clarice became affectionately known as Ree. Thus, this book came to be through the collaboration of an uncle and a niece, Doctor Dee and Ree. Finally, this book is intended to bring many pleasurable experiences between adults and the children around them, as they read and laugh together.
