Stormy times are coming. The messengers of the gods establish their rule over Mutal, the metropolis of the Maya, and continue their campaign against the neighboring cities. Fear and a spirit of resistance have awakened and plant a new idea of cooperation in the heads of the Mayan kings who do not want to surrender without a fight. But even within the group of stranded people, the captain's course is being questioned more and more. When a Roman expedition finally lands from distant Europe and an ambassador from Teotihuacán is interested in the developments, the centuries-old balance of power in Central America threatens to collapse.
Betrayal, epidemic, defeat – the list of problems for the crew of the Saarbrücken is endless. Now everything comes down to the question of who will ultimately prevail in this conflict. All powers are in position, have played their cards, and are confident that they will win. In the end, opponents like friends of the time wanderers know that only one person will be left who rightly can call himself Emperor. But until then, it's still a long and very bloody way, which will bring some surprise and cost many lives.

But events quickly escalate and many who thought they were in control are taught otherwise. Conflicts escalate, events get out of control and Romans, Japanese and Mayans are caught in heavy tides ...
The victory over the Goths has only brought temporary peace to the Roman Empire. Unrest and intrigues threaten to jeopardize the achievements made. The time travelers from the Saarbrücken not only help to reform Empire but also have to take first steps against the threat posed by the Huns. An expedition is sent to Africa to spread new ideas in the Empire and begin the search for profitable commodities. But the opponents of the new order are not asleep and begin their preparations to restore the old ways - and this with the help of a man who was believed to be dead.
Drunken from their triumph at Adrianople, the Goths set to the conquest of Eastern Rome and threaten the city of Thessaloniki. While the men of the German Cruiser Saarbrücken are still trying to prove their usefulness to the Roman Empire, the resistance against the time-travellers grows stronger. Mighty clergymen scheme against the growing influence of the Germans, and on the Saarbrücken itself the seeds of treason are planted ... and not only there.
Shortly before the First World War, the German light cruiser Saarbrücken leaves the port of Wilhelmshaven to make its last big journey before being decommissioned. But near Portugal the old ship encounters a mysterious phenomenon, and the crew unexpectedly finds itself in the Mediterranean, 1500 years in the past, at a historical moment: It's the year 378, the beginning of the end of the Western Roman Empire, the start of Völkerwanderung...the crew of the Saarbrücken decides that to survive they must make friends of the Romans. They had been the Kaiser's men in the 20th century, and now, in the past, another emperor might need their services...
The travellers from the future have barely gained a foothold in the Roman Empire, when their opponents already gather their forces and get in place for a counterattack. Troops are ready, campaigns are planned, and battles are prepared – the storm, which is about to rise, threatens to shake the Empire to its foundations. Everything the time-travellers wanted to change is in great danger. The uprising against everything Rheinberg and his followers have committed themselves to is imminent.
The new submarine flotilla is the pride of the Japanese Navy. The maiden voyage of the newest boat not only attracts the attention of the Imperial family yet is at the same time a test for the selected crew. But shortly after departure, something mysterious happens: The submarine seems to sink and all crew members lose consciousness. When they awaken, they realize with horror that their boat has left its element. It rests on the top of a gigantic tomb for the King of Mutal, lord of the largest metropolis of the Maya, in the middle of the Central American mainland, some 1500 years in the past. The confused crew goes straight into war and faces the crucial question of where their path will lead them now – to an empire or straight into disaster?
The signs are on storm. The Roman Empire is sinking into civil war - everything the time travellers have worked for appears to dissolve in an orgy of violence. The usurper Maximus is gaining the upper hand and the planned counterstrike proves to be more and more unworkable. The cruiser Saarbrücken, once again deprived of its port, is sent on an odyssey. Betrayal and intrigue lurk on the way. And as a new, deadly danger threatens to shake the Empire to its foundations, all those involved are left with nothing more than the means for another escape.
