Tomorrow morning, you and Frank Armitage are getting wed. In my opinion, marriage is blind optimism at any time, but especially in wartime. It's an act of faith. Taking its title from a line in Philip Larkin's poem 'MCMXIV', An August Bank Holiday Lark explores the impact of the First World War on a rural community in East Lancashire. Set in the idyllic summer of 1914 rural Lancashire, everyone in the community is excited about Wakes week; a rest from field and mill and a celebration of the Rushbearing Festival with singing, courting, drinking and dancing. The looming war barely registers . . . but it will. Through the lens of traditional rural life, the play follows the stories of the people of the village and witnesses their personal transitions from exuberance to touching naivety as they manage their loss with courage and humanity. An August Bank Holiday Lark received its world premiere on 7 February 2014, in a touring production by Northern Broadsides and New Vic Theatre.

References, to the reader, are like insulin to the diabetic: when needed they are indispensable, but in excess they induce coma. Moreover, when references are simply shovelled into a text in great gobbets, it is hard to resist the suspicion that the author has not read them all, but has copied some from a previous author's list. The story is told of one author who mischievously included in his list a bogus reference to an obscure foreign journal, and gleefully noted its frequent appearance in future articles. One of the joys of this present book is that the number of references to each topic is very small. But these few have been selected with dis cretion and studied with care. Each group of references is followed by a critical assessment, written with balanced judgment and commendable brevity, and how refreshing it is to find authors who read much but write little. In fact, these authors have followed the pattern of the sister work, Selected References in Orthopaedic Trauma, published in 1989.

In Mark 13, Christ says, I have foretold you all things. You just have to know where to look. I was led to the answers, and I want to lead you to that information gold mine, under His wing of truth. At the tender age of eight the visions began, first from Heaven then from Hell. My life was predestined for you to know the truth of what I lived through, and what Our Lord wanted to make clear to you. I was led by Our Lord, to a Scholar of The Original Manuscripts from the Library in England, where the King line made it possible for us to receive The Scriptures in English, through King James in 1611. But it was very hard for the translators to bring it to our true understanding, they even wrote a letter to the King telling him, and the readers, to go back to the Original Manuscripts to understand it fully. The Scholar taught chapter by chapter, and verse by verse with explanation, and proving what he taught every step of the way. He brought me understanding and clarity, that's when all my visions made sense to me. So much so, I felt compelled to tell you how my visions fit perfectly with The Scriptures for the end times. The Tapestry of my life is a message for everyone from Our Lord. Do you have a Destiny? Don't discard it. Magnify The Lord with it, in the upcoming battle for our very souls. This book also contains a description of Jesus Christ, written by Pontius Pilate, to Julius Caesar, just after Christ's crucifixion. Psalm 41:1-2 Blessed is he (or she) that considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in times of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive and he shall be blessed upon the earth; and Thou (Our Lord) will not deliver him into the will of his enemies. Thank You Lord.
