To this day Debbie Nelson is asked why she abandoned her son Marshall as a boy, beat him repeatedly, and then had the audacity to dog him with lawsuits when he became rich and famous. My Son Martial, My Son Eminem is her rebuttal to these widely believed lies-a poignant story of a single mother who wanted the world for her son, only to see herself defamed and shut out when he got it. Debbie Nelson encouraged her talented son to chase success-even when Eminem hijacked her good name in his lyrics and press for "street cred," a movie that ultimately alienated them from each other by the notoriety and bitterness it spawned. In My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem, Debbie Nelson details the real story of Eminem's life from his earliest days in a small town in Missouri and his teenage years in Detroit, to his rise to stardom and very public mom-bashing.

Jack the Ripper. Jeffrey Dahmer. John Wayne Gacy. Locusta of Gaul. If that last name doesn’t seem to fit with the others, it’s likely because our modern society largely believes that serial killers are a recent phenomenon. Not so, argues Debbie Felton—in fact, there’s ample evidence to show that serial killers stalked the ancient world just as they do the modern one. Felton brings this evidence to light in Monsters and Monarchs, and in doing so, forces us to rethink assumptions about serial killers arising from the decadence of modern society. Exploring a trove of stories from classical antiquity, she uncovers mythological monsters and human criminals that fit many serial killer profiles: the highway killers confronted by the Greek hero Theseus, such as Procrustes, who torture and mutilate their victims; the Sphinx, or “strangler,” from the story of Oedipus; child-killing demons and witches that could explain abnormal infant deaths; and historical figures such as Locusta of Gaul, the most notorious poisoner in the early Roman Empire. Redefining our understanding of serial killers and their origins, Monsters and Monarchs changes how we view both ancient Greek and Roman society and the modern-day killers whose stories still captivate the public today.

Weymouth, the second oldest town in Massachusetts, was established in 1622 and was a fishing and agricultural community for almost two hundred years before becoming a shoe-manufacturing center in the nineteenth century. Birthplace of Abigail Adams, the first woman to be the wife of one U.S. president and the mother of another, the town has enjoyed a long and exciting political and economic history. Through a fascinating collection of more than two hundred images, Weymouth illustrates the homes, businesses, institutions, and pleasures of Weymouth citizens of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It features photographs of each of the town's geographic areas-South Weymouth, Weymouth Landing, East Weymouth, and North Weymouth-with chapters highlighting recreation (few will remember Lovell's Grove, but many readers will remember the old Fairgrounds in South Weymouth), industries as varied as shoe manufacturing and ice cutting, tall-steepled white New England churches, our very own Mount Vernon, the South Weymouth Naval Air Station, the herring run, and, of course, the fire station that burned-twice.

There's not one person that at some time hasn't gone through some kind of trial. Suffering has a way of making us self-centered, but the fact is we are not the only ones suffering. Our family and friends are hurting for us. They're praying for us and going out of their way and taking up their time to help out however they can. For a lot of us, their suffering hurts us more than what we are going through. At some point, we start questioning God and wondering why God has forsaken us. God has a time and a purpose for our tribulations. This book was written to help you understand God loves you. You need to take your trials and pain to him. His grace will comfort you. The hope is that this book will encourage you to look for the blessings you can receive through trials.
