Fostered by massive governmental support, clinical psychology in the United States mushroomed in the years following World War II when social demands for mental health services outdistanced all available resources. In the nearly two decades since, much time and energy have been devoted to spirited discussions of persistent problems in clinical training. It is the purpose of this sourcebook to review past recommendations, consider current programs and issues, and suggest implications for future modifications and innovations. The text is divided into three parts. Part One begins with a distillation of the salient features from the Shakow Report and the Boulder, Stanford, Miami, and Princeton Conferences, focusing on curriculum structure, practicum and field experience, and related issues. This is followed by a review of the growth of training resources from 1945-1902. supported by the United States Public Health Service and the Veterans Administration. The first part concludes with a survey of the development and impact of professional evaluation and social control, the function of the American Board of Examiners in Professional Psychology, and state certification and licensing. Part Two discusses issues. University clinical psychology programs. ranging from traditional research-oriented training to a practitioner orientation, are noted. In this section, postdoctoral training and specialization in psychotherapy, psychodiagnosis, and research are considered. Part Three presents resources, commentaries, and conclusions. But soon after, the forces of liberalism made inroads, and the seeds of division were planted. This balanced account favors neither conservative nor liberal. It is history with a human touch, emphasizing personalities from Jonathan Edwards and William Jennings Bryan to David Koresh and Jim Jones.

This book addresses the idea that the recent rise of militant Christian, Jewish, and Muslim fundamentalisms and their interaction are endangering peace in the Middle East. It fully examines the thesis that apocalypticist fundamentalists--Christians in America, Jews in Israel and America--are working together to hasten the coming of the Messiah by instigating a Holy War in the Middle East. The CERT® Oracle® Secure Coding Standard for JavaTM provides rules designed to eliminate insecure coding practices that can lead to exploitable vulnerabilities. Application of the standard’s guidelines will lead to higher-quality systems–robust systems that are more resistant to attack. Such guidelines are required for the wide range of products coded in Java–for devices such as PCs, game players, mobile phones, home appliances, and automotive electronics. After a high-level introduction to Java application security, seventeen consistently organized chapters detail specific rules for key areas of Java development. For each area, the authors present noncompliant examples and corresponding compliant solutions, show how to assess risk, and offer references for further information.
