The Pro Tour’s hottest coach" (Golf Digest) distills the lessons of a private strategy session into an indispensable "soft skills" companion. This enhanced e-book edition features 60 minutes of never-before-seen interviews with the founders of Stockton Golf in which they share stories of how their signature approach has helped some of the best players on the PGA Tour improve their game. Credited with transforming the short games of world-class golfers like Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Annika Sorenstam, and Yani Tseng, Dave Stockton is one of the most sought-after coaches in golf. Yet Stockton’s natural abilities are more like the average player’s than those of most tour superstars. Not particularly long off the tee and average in terms of ballstriking, Stockton has won multiple major championships through a willingness to set his ego aside and analyze his game objectively—precisely what make him so effective as an instructor. The hallmark of Stockton’s coaching is the idea that "trying doesn’t work." He shows students how to get out of their own way and let their subconscious take over. In Own Your Game, Stockton recreates the experience of riding eighteen holes with him at one of his highly sought-after corporate outings. He explains how any player can learn to use his or her mind effectively—both in the microcosm of the shot at hand and in plotting a way through a round. Amateur golfers are tired of trying to imitate the swings of the pros—to mostly disastrous results. Stockton gives players the tools and the freedom to play better with the swing they currently have. Portable, conversational, practical—and complete with a mini-guide to playing business golf with colleagues and clients—Own Your Game shows how players at all levels can master the all-important mental game. This enhanced e-book features 15 videos in which the author and his two sons and coaching partners, Ron and Dave Jr., discuss how this unique mental approach to golf has helped even pros like McIlroy and Mickelson improve their scores and have more fun on the course.

The 1964 flood in the Eel and Klamath Rivers drainages represents an extreme weather event. Both the Northern California and Southern Oregon coasts are host to many floods, but the 1964 flood stands out as a representation of the "perfect storm." Three events occurred that led to the flood. First, a cold front moved in and dropped several feet of snow. Second, a warm front called the "pineapple connection" moved in and released lots of rain while melting the snowfall--local measurements varied from 20 to 32 inches of rainwater in three days. And third, the highest tide of the year had backed up debris and water for several miles. At its peak, the Eel River was discharging more than 800,000 cubic feet per second. Another contributing factor was that besides being one of the fastest rising and falling rivers in the world, the Eel River has the heaviest sediment load second only to the Yellow River in China.
In Dave Stockton's Putt to Win, Stockton, one of the greatest putters of all time, shares the secrets he's learned throughout his career for mastering the "other" game of golf, the one played on the green. The leading money winner on the Senior PGA Tour in 1993 and 1994, Stockton explains the mechanics necessary for successful putting and the mental approach needed to accept your share of misses while holing at least your share of birdies. Beautifully illustrated to highlight various putting techniques and loaded with solid practice drills and short-game tips, Dave Stockton's Putt to Win helps you do just that. Stockton shows numerous ways to improve your putting and ultimately lower your score. Topics covered include how to develop a smooth, dependable, mistake-free stroke; how to stay focused throughout the stroke no matter how difficult the putt; how to read the green and judge the distance to the hole; how to make adjustments for the length, the speed, and the grain of the green; how to read the subtle features that can influence the roll of the ball; how to choose the proper putter; and much more. But most important, Dave Stockton is able to articulate and teach us how to develop feel - the crucial element that separates great putters from those who quake at the sight of a breaking four-footer.
The Pro Tours' Hottest Coach" (Golf Digest) reveals the secrets that helped Phil Mickelson win the 2010 Masters and can utterly transform every player's game. When a resurgent Phil Mickelson won the Tour Championship in September 2009, he was quick to credit a series of simple putting lessons from veteran golf champion and instructor Dave Stockton. As a top coach, Stockton has taught a long list of pro players-including Annika Sorenstam, Yani Tseng (winner of four LPGA tournaments), Adam Scott (Texas Open champion), Hunter Mahan (Phoenix Open champion), and Morgan Pressel (World Ladies Championship of Japan winner)-the putting strategies that finessed their game. Stockton's breakthrough concept is that every player has their own Signature Stroke, which is unconscious. Good putting comes from the mind, Stockton says, not from a series of stiff mechanical positions. With visualization, the right frame of mind, an efficient pre-putt routine, and connection to the individual internal stroke signature, any player can make far more putts. Putting has always been taught as an offshoot to the full swing, when in reality it is far different- almost a different game. Unconscious Putting will help players get out of the rigid, mechanical, overthinking trap. In Unconscious Putting, Stockton shows how players at every handicap level-from pros to weekend golfers-can putt effortlessly and with confidence by integrating a new mental approach with a few simple physical routines that will keep them locked on target. Readers will also gain invaluable advice on reading greens and equipment. Illustrated throughout and filled with anecdotes about how Stockton's lessons have helped today's leading players, Unconscious Putting is a must-have golf book and a category classic-in-the-making.

Dave Shoji, legendary coach for the University of Hawai‘i women’s volleyball program, looks back at four decades of coaching to tell his story along with that of the Rainbow Wahine, four-time national champions and consistently among the top-ranked teams in college sports. With the assistance of longtime beat writer Ann Miller, Shoji provides an exclusive look at the state’s perennially successful athletic team. His memoir traces the history and rise of the program—from 1975, when he was hired as a part-time coach by women’s athletic director Donnis Thompson and matches were held in the “sweatbox” of Klum Gym; through the late 1970s and the 1980s, which saw the start of the Booster Club and excitement of playing in front of sell-out crowds at Honolulu’s Blaisdell Arena; into the 1990s with the team’s move to its current home at the Stan Sheriff Center, attracting the sport’s largest and most devoted following; to the landmark 2013 season when Shoji became the winningest coach in NCAA history and on his way to a fortieth year with the Rainbow Wahine program. Interviews with memorable players, family, and assistant and rival coaches, together with over 100 action photos—plus twenty more in a color insert—bring back both thrilling and poignant memories of the greatest moments of Rainbow Wahine volleyball. The comprehensive yearly statistics, full player rosters, and handy index make the book a needed reference for trivia buffs. A keepsake for fans and players alike, Wahine Volleyball: 40 Years Coaching Hawai‘i’s Team will delight any sports enthusiast as well as readers who enjoy first-person remembrances of what makes Hawai‘i unique.
The Eel River in Northern California is the third largest river in the state. Along its banks stand the largest remaining redwood groves in the world. They are preserved within Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Created in 1921 with the purchase of Bolling Grove near Myers Flat by the Save the Redwoods League, the park currently preserves 53,000 acres of forestland. Within the park are structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and a monolithic four-fireplace structure designed by Julia Morgan. The park also encompasses many small towns. The settlement of these towns is included in this pictorial history of Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Additionally, steps taken to preserve the redwoods are documented. Finally, floods along the river that have shaped the environment and influenced the growth of the park are also featured.
The Twilight Zone is among the most beloved shows in American television history, a pioneering fantasy behemoth that bridged the cultural gap between the 1950s and 1960s with thought-provoking mystery, mind-boggling theorems, and occasionally outright horror. The Twilight Zone FAQ takes the reader back to that halcyon era, looking back on the show and its impact as a force for societal change, via reflections on the manifold topics and controversies that the show took on – from the space race to the Red Menace, from paranoia to madness and beyond. Dave Thompson traces the history of the show – from its earliest flowering in the mind of then-unknown Rod Serling through its slow birth, shaky beginning, and breathless five-season run – and he shows how it became the blueprint for so much of the fantasy television that has followed. Chapters deal with the comic books, novels, and many other spin-offs, including the movie, the TV revamps, and even the amusement park ride. In addition, this FAQ offers a full guide to every episode, providing details on the cast and music and pinpointing both the best and the worst of the series, all adding up to a brightly opinionated time machine that catapults the reader back to the true golden age of American television.
We live in the greatest nation on Planet Earth, but it is becoming more and more apparent that in order to keep it great, people must do something to stop the federal courts that are daily setting themselves above the law and dictating how we should live and what we should think. This book is designed to bring you up to speed on the ongoing struggle against an over-reaching judicial branch, without overwhelming you with legal double-speak. It is written in plain American, and presented in bite-sized pieces. After studying the principles in this book, you will better understand the role of government and how to react when the next judge throws out the will of the people in favor of the latest social engineering project. To bring our nation back from the elites in black robes that wish to redefine everything we are as Americans, it is going to take work. Edmund Burke, the famous British politician who supported our War of Independence while serving in the British Parliament, stated a simple truth that still applies to us today: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." We have done nothing for too long, and we are paying the price today. But it is not too late. The fight has only just begun. But by picking up this book you are taking the first step, and together we can turn our nation around. This book features chapters from some of our nation's most prominent leaders in the battle for continued liberty and freedom in our nation, such as: A CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS-US Attorney General Ed Meese THOU SHALT HAVE NO GOD BEFORE US-Benjamin D.
