He grows up as a warrior, studying under the sultan’s army leaders and learning the art of war. He thrives on the stories of the Greek heroes of old. As a young soldier, he is given responsibility to secure the sultan’s trade routes. Herein lies a story of a young boy, lost youths, and strategic battle plans all the while being faithful to his surrogate father, the sultan. Historically, he wants to regain the throne for his sultan. His adventure begins.

Berkowitz demonstrates, the end of the postwar economic boom, Watergate, and defeat in Vietnam led to an unraveling of the national consensus. During the decade, ideas about the United States, how it should be governed, and how its economy should be managed changed dramatically. Berkowitz argues that the postwar faith in sweeping social programs and a global U.S. mission was replaced by a more skeptical attitude about government's ability to positively affect society. From Woody Allen to Watergate, from the decline of the steel industry to the rise of Bill Gates, and from Saturday Night Fever to the Sunday morning fervor of evangelical preachers, Berkowitz captures the history, tone, and spirit of the seventies. He explores the decade's major political events and movements, including the rise and fall of détente, congressional reform, changes in healthcare policies, and the hostage crisis in Iran. The seventies also gave birth to several social movements and the "rights revolution," in which women, gays and lesbians, and people with disabilities all successfully fought for greater legal and social recognition. At the same time, reaction to these social movements as well as the issue of abortion introduced a new facet into American political life-the rise of powerful, politically conservative religious organizations and activists. Berkowitz also considers important shifts in American popular culture, recounting the creative renaissance in American film as well as the birth of the Hollywood blockbuster. Although Mierlien is only trying to save one boy with a great destiny, Jason is joined by his two friends. Red, a smart ass with a sharp wit, and David, a nerd or a bookworm or both. They have been friends since kindergarten in their tiny town of Sweet Home and they refuse to let their friend leave without a good bye, even though they don’t believe he is just moving away all of the sudden. Mierlien makes a portal for himself, Jason, and Angie, the woman he hired to watch over Jason. Red and David chase after and make it through the portal. Once in Valherus the group has to figure why Jason has been called up, what he needs to do, and they need to Save Camelot from a creature named Vaelyr who can control any undead. They are attacked from all sides, beset by treachery, and outnumbered five to one with very few able citizens to fight. If Jason succeeds the Earth will never know and if he fails the worlds may be destroyed.

Darryl Nelson was sent to Mogadishu, Somalia, after being stationed stateside with the Army's 101st airborne division as a maintenance platoon leader. He experienced strange dreams and nightmares, and in 1993, after surviving attacks in Mogadishu, he was diagnosed with kidney failure. The next year, Nelson was forced to retire from active duty and was flown out of Somalia to receive medical care at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He had more encounters with dreams and nightmares. While receiving dialysis treatment, he was diagnosed with cancer. His kidneys were surgically removed and unfortunately, his twin brother was not a match for transplant surgery. Nelson was put on a transplant list but was told he would have to wait two years for the procedure. More than two years later, he still waits for transplant surgery, but he remains upbeat and hopeful. Friends and relatives have come to know what answer to expect when they ask Nelson how he's feeling. He'll tell you, "I'm feeling fine." Nelson provides inspiration for others living with kidney disease and helps raise the awareness of close friends and family on the loss of an organ.
