Knowing the war is escalating, Alexandre, Shale and the women are determined to rescue archives and artifacts from the University of Madrid and help the National Junta for Protection of Artistic Treasure transfer Spain’s great art collection to Geneva. As they do so, they must be braver than ever, as the devastating Battle of Madrid is upon them.

Twenty six year old Nicolette Strickland has been working on the lakes for five seasons. Her and her friend Earl Franklin board an ore carrier from the mail boat in Detroit in August. The story picks up in November when the unloading boom goes overboard in heavy weather in Lake Superior. Nick has to help the other guys to get the boom back onboard. In Sault Ste Marie, they pick up an unwanted guest and Nick continues to rack her brain to figure out the identity of her secret admirer. After unloading in Cleveland, Nick gets into a fight with Earl. Nick meets the Mate at a restaurant and accidently discovers that he is the secret admirer. They both live in Marblehead, so he takes her home. When the boom is fixed, they go to Lorain to get a load of coal. They have to fix a turbine on the way. In Lake Huron the weather turns bad but they have Thanksgiving dinner on board. Nick and several guys get the 24 hour fl u before they get to Duluth. After unloading the coal, the ship goes to Winter lay-up and most of the crew leave. Nick and Earl catch a commercial flight to Cleveland. A couple of the crew are on the airplane. A week later they attend a retirement party for Captain Kompsii. A small fight ensues after the party. Back in Marblehead, Nick finds out that her former shipmate, Guiddo, is in bad shape from a stroke. Nick arranges to complete her degree over the winter. She finds herself hanging out with the Mate quite frequently.

It was one of those mother-daughter times we will both treasure for the rest of our lives. My mom hugged me, and I quickly hugged her right back. A tremendous weight had lifted from my soul. We connected, we forgave, and we loved. God helped us both, and His love is so amazing! In December of 2013, my heart was overflowing with joy, and I once again felt inspired to write. I was in prayer, and I asked God a question. How can I show people that I have really changed? I felt Gods answer, and it was pretty simple. Just show them what you do every day.

In this provocative analysis of contemporary Catholic moral theology Darlene Fozard Weaver shows the person as a moral agent acting in relation to God. Using an overarching theological context of sinful estrangement from and gracious reconciliation in God, Weaver shows how individuals negotiate their relationships with God in and through their involvement with others and the world. Much of current Christian ethics focuses more on persons and their virtues and vices exemplified by the work of virtue ethicists or on sinful social structures illustrated in the work of liberation theologians. These judgments fail to appreciate the reflexive character of human action and neglect the way our actions negotiate our response to God. Weaver develops a theologically robust moral anthropology that advances Christian understanding of persons and moral actions and contends we can better understand the theological import of moral actions by seeing ourselves as creatures who live, move, and have our being in God.

How do you go to sleep, if you're not sure you're going to wake up? While most of the population of the Spinning Wheel, a Chapter colonization ship, sleeps in their cryo bays, Zellendine and Troylus go through the motions of their shift awake, keeping the ship going. But the first tendrils of the Grimm star, the star that will be their sun on their new planet, are shining in the windows, and with the light comes more changes than they are prepared for. First, a baby is born dead from one of the mechanical wombs on board with no warning that something is wrong. Second, some of the people in the next shift, waking up from their cryo bay for the hand off period on the ship, are stuck in deep, steady REM sleep. And third, while Troylus is on a starwalk to close the shields over the windows because a strange anomaly is detected in front of the ship, the anomaly… attacks. He doesn’t have a better description for it. And he doesn’t have any way to explain what he does in response to save Zellendine on the other side of the window, watching on in horror. Only one more period in cryo before they are scheduled to arrive on their long awaited new planet, but can they even survive until they are supposed to go to sleep again? And if they do, will they ever wake up?
