The Initiation of DNA Replication contains the proceedings of the 1981 ICN-UCLA Symposia on Structure and DNA-Protein Interactions of Replication Origins, held in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 8-13, 1981. The papers explore the initiation of DNA replication and address relevant topics such as whether there are specific protein recognition sites within an origin; how many proteins interact at an origin and whether they interact in a specific temporal sequence; or whether origins can be subdivided into distinct functional domains. The specific biochemical steps in DNA chain initiation and how they are catalyzed are also discussed. This book is organized into six sections and comprised of 41 chapters. The discussion begins by analyzing the replication origin region of the Escherichia coli chromosome and the precise location of the region carrying autonomous replicating function. A genetic map of the replication and incompatibility regions of the resistance plasmids R100 and R1 is described, and several gene products produced in vivo or in vitro from the replication region are considered. The sections that follow focus on the DNA initiation determinants of bacteriophage M13 and of chimeric derivatives carrying foreign replication determinants; suppressor loci in E. coli; and enzymes and proteins involved in initiation of phage and bacterial chromosomes. The final chapters examine the origins of eukaryotic replication. This book will be of interest to scientists, students, and researchers in fields ranging from microbiology and molecular biology to biochemistry, molecular genetics, and physiology.

Stephanidae Leach, 1815 (Hymenoptera: Stephanoidea) is an imperfectly known family in its systematics and many types have never been studied since their descriptions. At present 345 extant species are recorded worldwide, and only twenty species in five genera are known from six provinces of China. An extensive review of previously published literatures and previously unidentified specimens referred to Stephanidae results in taxonomic revision of the family from China. This monograph includes identification of six new species, establishment of nine new synonyms and designation of one lectotype. Descriptions and illustrations of all Chinese species are provided and keys to five genera from China and their species are made. The results of this monograph clarify some taxonomic confusion, richen the geographical distributions of Stephanidae in China and provide facilities for further research in Chinese Stephanidae.

(Volume 3) There are wars with those who have defied the extraterrestrials. Religion, while highly ritualistic, boils down to the simple concept that someones ancestral lineage will bring forth the Messiah. Each family desires to be that lineage and brings forth children in that hope. It is against this backdrop that the canonized Bible was written by 40 different people from blue-collar to royal backgrounds over a period of 1600 years without any contradictions.

In 1948, the State of Israel was founded. While the philosophy of Zionism that advocated for a Jewish homeland in what was then known as Palestine dates back to 1897, the creation of Israel in 1948 was justified by the terrible crime of the Holocaust committed by Nazi Germany during WWII. Many defenders of Israel would like us to believe that the creation of Israel was a peaceful process on a barely populated land, however, this is far from true. Rather, the creation of Israel was accompanied by what is known by the Palestinians as the Nakba(catastrophe)—an operation in which 700,000 Palestinians were violently expelled from their land and their homes. Since that time, Israel has continued to usurp more and more land from the Palestinians who they falsely portray as a people without a history and without a culture. Israel has been particularly cruel to the people of Gaza—70 percent of whom are refugees from the 1948 Nakba. Gaza has been converted by Israel into what some call a giant open-air prison surrounded by barbed wire. It is in this context that we are currently witnessing the tragic violence between Israel and the people of Gaza—violence on a scale not seen in this land since the Nakba of 1948. Indeed, many Palestinians are calling this a second Nakba, with around 1.5 million Palestinians already displaced and thousands killed. All of this is being accomplished by Israel with critical military and diplomatic support from the United States. This second Nakba is also being facilitated by the mainstream press that both downplays and justifies what many believe to be genocidal violence against the Palestinian people. The Case for Palestine is written as a counternarrative, with the hope that, if the truth is told, this violence and displacement can be stopped before it is too late; before Gaza is no more.
