The CALL Program is designed for the professional development of teachers in Years 5-10 throughout Australia to emphasise the impact of literacy development on learning. CALL combines teachers' expertise in content areas with knowledge about language and literacy in learning. It aims to provide a deeper understanding of the literacy needs of students, taking into account the language and literacy demands which influence learning in the classroom. The program has ten sessions and an optional eleventh session. Sessions include a range of activities based on the principles of effective teaching.
