Paul is already involved with stopping an attempt on Matt Corbin’s life, so much so, that he almost loses his own in the process, when his services are sought out by other friends, Brother Saul and Brother Simon from the ancient Brotherhood of the Philo. It seems that a recent neophyte to their order is missing. They know very little about the boy other than they like him and are worried about him and believe he lives on the streets. Paul naturally helps them while the city is being plagued by two serial rapist-killers. Paul starts digging and finds strings not only leading back to the two killers, but to their victims and to Matt Corbin, which in turn, reveals a bizarre, puzzled, utter unbelievable theory that could be true.

After talking to her, Phoenix suspects that something bad has happened to the girl but doesn’t know what, and the girl doesn’t remember anything. So Phoenix takes her to Paul and asks him to help her find out what happened to the girl. Paul starts digging and soon finds that other young girls, much like the one Phoenix found, have encountered the same circumstances – they all have suddenly disappeared from their normal lives without a trace of what happened to them.

What would a divinely ordained social order look like? Pre&–Vatican II Catholics, from archbishops and theologians to Catholic union workers and laborers on U.S. farms, argued repeatedly about this in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Debating God&’s Economy is a history of American Catholic economic debates taking place during the generation preceding Vatican II. At that time, American society was rife with sociopolitical debates over the relative merits and dangers of Marxism, capitalism, and socialism; labor unions, class consciousness, and economic power were the watchwords of the day. This was a time of immense social change, and, especially in the light of the monumental social and economic upheavals in Russia and Europe in the early twentieth century, Catholics found themselves taking sides. Catholic subcultures across America sought to legitimize&—or, in theological parlance, &“sanctify&”&—diverse economic systems that were, at times, mutually exclusive. While until now the faithful&—both scholars and nonscholars&—have typically spoken of &“the Catholic Social Tradition&” as if it were an established prescription for curing social ills, Prentiss maintains that the tradition is better understood as a debate grounded in a common mythology that provides Catholics with a distinctive vocabulary and touchstone of authority.

It sounded simple enough, so he takes the case on. but later learns that there was a whole lot that Blair didn’t tell him, like Blair was acting in behalf of his Catholic Church Cardinal brother, who really wants the book Reese took from a Neo-Nazi living in America, a book plundered by the Nazis during World War II, when they were obsessed with the Occult. This particular book was supposedly written by a cloistered monk with the help of the Devil and later printed unknowingly by Gutenberg. Over the centuries the book stayed in the hands of the Catholic Church until the Nazis took it from them, and now Reese had it. Paul soon discovers that everyone wants to own the book including the Catholic Church, who wanted it back, some Neo-Nazis skinheads, a very attractive woman named Abigail Azazel, who represented the Nephilim, and of course Blair and Reese. The only rub was that those who possessed the book and opened it suddenly died.
